    My car

I have owned the car for three months now - it seems pretty good on diesel. It does 'tramline' when in ruts in the road, and also has more than average road noise.

The paint does chip quite easy and I have recently had a handbrake problem, resulting in the car running away with the handbrake on and causing over £600 worth of damage to the front end.

I put the handbrake on as normal, i.e. using the button so as not to wear the ratchet. Surprise, surprise, Honda has just sent a recall notice out to all Honda Civic drivers because of a handbrake fault that occurs when the handbrake is applied using the button.

Honda advises all drivers to apply the handbrake using the ratchet and also to leave it in gear until the fault can be rectified under warranty. Has anyone else had a handbrake problem with their Accord?

Add your comments about it if you have, because I believe the recall should also apply to the Accord.

    My car

Bought this car July '07, 1 yr old demo with 1900 miles on the clock. Great driving car, spacious and very economical, however, the car required a new battery after one month which went completely flat requiring a second new battery within three months. Honda dealer could not locate a fault. The signs are there is still a problem as the vehicle is lazy to start. This has taken some of the gloss off anotherwise superb car. Has anyone else had the same problem?

    My car

I reviewed this car on here at 9k miles. Now it's done 46k in just over a year and a half.

It remains thirsty - real world mpg averages 40. I've managed 43.7 on a tank recently, but that was 95% motorway, aircon off and 70 mph on cruise. Talk of 55+ is just fantasy.

Dealers are not impressive: on the 37.5k service the oil was overfilled by nearly two litres - 50% of engine capacity. I had to fight to get this sorted for free.

The centre console was changed because the lid mechanism wasn't working properly. The paint on the bonnet is very thin indeed - there are several stone chips starting to rust. It doesn't tramline on Pirelli P6000 Powergy tyres.

The alternator blew at 20k miles, boiling the battery and ruining a holiday in France when the recovery company and Honda France were completely unable to sort it for nearly two weeks. Honda UK were brilliant - they intervened all guns blazing and got us sorted out, so due credit to them.

It remains comfortable, is still lovely to drive (although the gear change is perhaps not quite as silky as it once was), and the interior has held up well. The front speakers buzz, something the dealer has refused to sort, and there is the merest hint of a rattle from door trim, but overall it doesn't feel like a 46k car.

So, the main dealer is useless, the paint is thin and it has a drink problem. Otherwise it is pretty brilliant.

Would I buy another? Yes, I probably would.

    My car

I have owned this vehicle for just over 12 months and have covered 33000 miles in it. The last 6000 miles have been on a new engine this was due to the engine using oil, which i was later told its suposed to do so approx 1l every 600-1000 miles. This was something i was never told by any staff either on delivery or on services.

I love this car but a £10000 bill for a new engine after 27000 miles has some what put a dampner on it.

Please if you own or are thinking of buying one of these keep an eye on the oil.
