    My car

I've had this car for two years now. I bought it 12 months old from a main dealer.

From the outset there was a problem with the stereo - the left front speaker keeps cutting out. The dealer has not been able to replicate the problem and so cannot fix it apparently.

The tailgate had a few problems but this was fixed early on and is now a very useful gadget. Road noise is disappointingly high and ride can be harsh (I have the larger wheels) but it's an excellent motorway cruiser and fun to drive on the lanes. I get 40mpg but a lot of my driving is local. It is much better on long runs.

I find it heavy on front tyres. Many people are surprised it's a diesel.

It recently deveoped a fault with the handbrake - it releases itself. I had this checked by the dealership, who stripped and rebuilt the brakes, but it has not resolved the problem.

I seem to have done nothing but complain about the car but I have to say it is well-equipped, practical, has loads of room for passengers and luggage and is a very pleasant driving experience.

In my opinion it is better than the last BMW 5 Series Touring. Not bad for £17k!

    My car

I bought this car 18 months ago and apart from a faulty battery which was replaced under warranty there has been no problems in 20,000 miles.

The car does everything you would expect. It's a perfect motorway cruiser with a huge load capacity. The car is thirsty, but no more than you would expect.

With regards to tramlining, the proplem has been greatly improved since replacing the original tyres with the new Toyo tyres.

    My car

I am in agricultural banking and have covered 27,000 faultless miles so far. I agree that there is a little road noise, but I do not find it a worry. The car pulls very well and can accelerate out of trouble. It will cruise control at 70 in 6th and at that level return over 60 MPG. In fact, overall it returns over 45 MPG. My wife finds it too low as a passenger, but she is an uneasy passenger at best. It can carry a good load and 5 people, seemingly returning the same MPG. It is an excellent towing vehicle too, pulling a large Ifor Williams horse box with two large horses without even drawing breath. The engine is fabulous, utterly silent and very responsive. I used to run my old Peugeot 206 SW on rape oil but I don't think I'll risk it here - ultra-sensitive pump. Unlike your other readers, I have found the Honda dealership in Salisbury very good so far, quick and polite, even offering one of their private offices for PC work when awaiting a service. Full marks to them.

All in all, a terrific car. I guess I have never been spolit before .......

    My car

I have now owned this vehicle for two months and things are going from bad to worse! The tram lining is getting progresively worse - so much so that as I type it's currently sitting at the local main dealer (Barretts Honda, Canterbury).

In the last month it's developed an alarming intermittent knocking noise from the front offside wheel along with a very nasty whining noise coming from the steering (most noticable when in car parks, slow speeds, etc). Upon inspection of the 225x45mm 17 inch tyres I discovered that the inside shoulders of both front tyes were worn completely bald about two inches in - the car has only completed 15,000 miles!

When I took it to the main dealer, (Barretts Honda, Canterbury) yesterday saying that I wanted the matter looked at under the terms of the warranty, they couldn't have been less helpful. Suggestion was made (prior to any sort of inspection) that either I or the previous owner may have caused damage to the steering (hence the knocking, etc). I was also told that in order to 'try' and diagnose the problem that my vehicle would need to undergo their laser wheel alignment test (at a cost of £123 to me).

It appears to me that Honda main dealers are reluctant to entertain warranty claims and thereby tarnish Honda's apparent excellent reliabilty record. A Honda warranty would not appear to be worth the paper it's written on.

I'm very unhappy with this car - avoid at all costs!
