It is, I think, the best car I have ever owned. It handles superbly on the road, is extremely comfortable, has plenty of power, is very responsive. Altogether, it is a most delightful car to drive. I have previously owned three 5-series BMWs and I wouldn't thank you for one compared to this Honda. My car before this one was a Toyota Camry, which I loved. I thought that I would never be able to own a car that equalled it but my experience to date with the Honda has expelled all those misgivings.
The Honda Civic executive is the best all round package I have have ever purchased. The cabin room is excellent and driving is a great pleasure.
I use my 04 reg Civic as a second car. I am impressed by the manual gearbox and the handling.
I am averaging around 45mpg and find the performance more than adequate, even for a long run.
My only niggles are that the clock on the radio vanishes if you use the radio, and the relatively small petrol tank at 11.5 gallons, which limits its range.
Civic Type-S (2.0iVTEC 160hp) Sept. '03 model.
Too low geared (latest model even lower) and still poor mid-range torque - a general Honda engine fault.
Excellent driver & passenger room and boot reasonable. Driver's seat is comfortable with half-leather trim. Great gearchange. Steering a little dead. Good brakes.
Height gives more roll than some competitors but road-holding and handling OK. Latest model also has electronic stability control added. Has climate control but old-fashioned knobs rather than latest digital control. Headlamps seem poor, but latest model has projector-type h/lamps that may be better.
