Having had the sport for 2 years now i can honestly say this is a cracking nippy little 1.6. its easy on the eyes and cheap to run even when reved like a honda should be.
This car has never failed to put a smile on my face on the country roads of scotland as long as the rev's are high.
But alas all good things must come to an end and so have now traded for the Type R..... wow.
What have i been missing for the last two years..... it just blows you away.
If you looking for fun and cheap running the sport is excellent. if your looking for the real thing then there is no getting round it. The Type R is the muts.
I have had the pleasure of driving this car as my dad owns it. I have to say this is a very pleasant and comfortable car to drive. The drive quality is a bit crashy and on the hard side but it is bearable. The looks of the car r fantastic, it looks far better than a Astra, Golf or Focus in ma opionon.
The engine is the real performer for a car off this size, its fast, smooth and quiet and you can hear the VTEC screaming and kickin off above 4000RPM and you would honestly love it. its like a speeding bullet with just a tap off the pedal. Its also very economical i was very surprised for it to hold its petrol this well considering its a 1.6 litre. The leather seats are very comfortable espically with the heated seats option but they do need looking after quite alot but overall this car has been the best 5-door avaliable today.
I had the Type R, and what an awesome machine that was - AMAZING!! now ive got a house and with the constantly increasing fuel and tax bills, i had to change. The 1.6 vtec sport is excellent, ok so u cant get from 0-60 in 6.6 secs BUT lets face it, when can u really drive a car hard now (unless u live in Scotland)???? the 1.6 sport is almost a better alternative. If u r thinking of buying a honda - GET THIS
I have Civic special Edition 1.4i MAX it has only done 21000 mile and the gear box has failed told by honda it will cost me around £1000 to get fixed contacted Honda UK and they wasn't that helpful either. I contacted Honda UK because I thought that because of law miledge i should not have this problem. Overally, this is my third Honda and probably my last. I bought it on price and the reputation that Honda supposedly has but I will not recommend it to anyone now.
