    My car

Bought this '99 model in Sept 2003 as an used import from Singapore. Very comfortable on motorways and around town, but struggled and seemed underpowered on twisty uphill roads. Auto gearbox always seemed to be working hard on hills.

Loads of space inside and we'll be buying a 2005/2006 Mk II version in the next few months. Absolutely no complaints with our CR-V and we drove it between 25k and 45k miles. Honda reliability is worth paying extra for the peace of mind.

    My car

Bought Japanese import in Nov 2005. Impressed with size inside, boot, legroom etc. Have used as a van for taking stuff to tip/recycling centre. Very smooth and quiet, lovely ride, clear controls, light steering (maybe too light for some) Only things spent on are consmables, petrol, tyres, brakes. Exhaust rear had to be replaced, but that was the original from 1995! Looks good in Turqoise metallic (no it does look good!) Loads of extras inc mega big elec sunroof, climate control, fold in mirrors, auto box. Not bad economy, handles well apart from a little body roll. Did consider a Freelander, but had heard horror stories on reliability(sorry Land Rover), although I can't comment as I obviously did not get one in the end. Final good news, I paid only £2500 for it without even a sniff of a service hitory, but it has been superb. Any downsides are the odd spot of rust just showing itself (superficial-will sort in summer)clonking suspension bushes but the car has done 90000 miles and I suspect they have never been touched. All electrics work faultlessly and not even a light bulb has failed in the last 14 months.

Just buy one if you are in the market for a soft-roader. I will just get another one, or the later shape (have you seen the new one yet......wow!)and in trade in, I will probably get what I paid for it, which can't be bad!
