Bought my car brand new. Driving a petrol means that while I will not enjoy the fuel efficiency of a diesel, I got the sweet revving petrol in return. I did not like the car initially because the interior was hard and plasticky compared to some European rivals but after a trouble free 5 years of ownership, I am pretty glad with my purchase. The car is reasonably good to drive and is comfortable on long journeys. My only gripe is that the Audio system could have been better and I wished that Honda had installed lights for the boot. Please note that my Honda CR-V is a Japanese Domestic Market model I imported myself from Japan hence there could be slight differences to other people's car.
I've had the car from new and it is now 8 months old. I find the ride firm but I guess that is because to prevent roll around on bends for a tallish vehicle. The vehicle has been recalled for a fuel pump replacement, apparently due to a fire hazard, I was told. This was replaced by my local dealer the same day. Otherwise the vehicle has not given us any problems whatsoever. It's easy to drive and has loads of room and we are preparing to drive right across Europe to Istanbul this year. The looks of the vehicle is obviously not to every ones liking but we find it pleasing. What is distinctly noticeable is the inferior quality of the interior leather and the plastics, which is easily damaged and not a patch on say, Audi, BMW or Mercedes or even our Toyota, which we traded in.
I have had my Honda ctdi 2.2 Es for 3 years now under lease. I cannot speak highly enough of this car. Its roomy, as proved by two teenagers, a toddler and a dog that are carried in it regularly. Its a delight to drive, the all round vision is excellent. it was fantastic in the snow - i live in a very hilly town and whilst other cars were being abandoned at the bottom of each hill, my CRV didnt let me down or put me on edge once. It has made several trips to Cornwall and Devon and despite being fully packed to the rafters with people and luggage, we were all still comfortable the whole 5 hour journey.
I wouldnt hesitate to get another Honda CRV, i love everything about this car, even the squeaky clutch pedal that the dealership cannot manage to rectify - it just adds to its charm ! Love it !
Had the car for nearly a year now. Averaging about 40mpg with mixed driving. I find the car very comfortable and extremely practical...we are always throwing loads into the boot. Ride on 18inch alloys is pretty good on our pot-holed roads. Sat Nav seems easy to use and accurate. Plastics could be more tactile but they seem hard wearing and I reckon will stand the test of time. Had a few issues with the car pulling to the left...I find taking the pressure up to 30.5 psi in the front tyres seems to help. I still find the diesel noisy after my last V6 Audi, but it seems to be getting smoother now....certainly has enough grunt for fairly rapid progress but it's not meant to handle like a sportscar is it!
