I am having an on going battle with Honda to get them to pay for a new start clutch under warranty. They say the car is covered under warranty but have still billed me. The cvt system in the HRV is known to be faulty and instead of recalling them they extended the warranty for 10 years on the older model and 7 years on the 2002 up model. If you have a HRV contact Honda and ask about a new start clutch.

This could have been the 'power of nightmares', but thanks to Honda and Shepton Malett Honda it became 'the power of dreams'. My newly acquired Honda HRV had a serious 'judder' when it moved off. this was caused by a faulty start clutch in the Continuously variable auto transmission, (CVT). Normally this would cost about £1500 to fix. Shepton Malett Honda put the case to Honda who agreed to repair the CVT free of charge under the 10 year warranty with the CVT box. This was despite the vehicle being 9 years and with 92,000 miles on the 'clock'! I cannot understand why people buy other makes of vehicles, wonderful service, wonderful cars....

I recently purchased a used HRV with 92,000 on the 'clock'. A check on the Vehicle was completed before purchase by Car Checkers Ltd., they recorded a slight 'judder' when the vehicle moves off. They recommended a change of oil. I am suspicious however, that it is a fault with the cvt gearbox. The vehicle will be going to Shepton Mallett Honda in Somerset for assesment. I am told that the repair could be done under warrenty. Well we shall see. Has anyone else had this problem? It will be interesting to see what the outcome will be.

    My car

I bought this car just over six months ago from Manor Oak Honda in Perth. I part exchanged my 05 plate Civic and wish that I hadn't! The HRV is fairly good to drive but it's overall build quality is well below that of the Civic. The cabin feels cramped and is built with cheap looking materials. I was most disappointed though with Manor Oaks Service. having owned four Hondas (starting with a 1979 Prelude!) I was a firm devotee but the HRV will be my last as I can't stomach looking at the badge after having been lied to on a number of occasions by someone at Manor Oak claiming to be the 'Manager'. I have written to both Manor Oak and to Honda UK but neither have bothered to reply to my letter. So a big fat Zero for customer care there from both Dealer and Company. It may be that there is a reasonable explanation for the apparent lies but as neither Manor Oak nor Honda Uk can be bothered to answer my letter I can only assume that there is not. The HRV is now up for sale and will be replaced with a Toyota or Subaru.
