My father has one of these (non-VTEC 3dr)
I would agree with the WhatCar? review and I would like to add that in 130,000 miles (60 motorways, 40 cities, none rural) there wasn't a single engine problem.
If you keep it well maintained it won't let you down.
Impressed by the prices you can find it at.
My HRV CVT gearbox was fixed FOC some time ago at the local Honda dealer (GlenVargil Aberdeen). No questions asked; no problems; brilliant after sales on a car that is 5 years old. If I had to pay for it, it would have cost £1k to £2k.
Your car is probably still under warranty as the problem you have sounds like a manufacturer fault.
Honda has fixed some HR-Vs free of charge (installed new gear boxes). Click on this site for some more info http://www.hondasuv.com/members/showthread.php?t=22805
You may need to search around but you should find something of help.
As for the other site mentioned by Tony, I´ve no idea. Good luck.
This is a superbly made car by Honda and I have owned it for about five years. The interior was boring, so I had Honda add leather seats and black windows. The silver bodywork makes the car have head-turning looks. However, the automatic gearbox developed a fault at just under 60,000 miles. However my son found on a Honda-related website that Honda guarantee the part up to 60,000 miles, as there was a fault on some earlier models (mine is a T-reg). Sure enough, Honda renewed the part - a major job - at no charge.
I'm quite astounded by this gesture. No other car company I know of would do this for a car that is six years old and has 60,000 miles on it. Just be aware of this on some older models!
