Fantastic piece of engineering. The VTEC engine is incredible and you'll catch yourself grinning every time you hit 6000 rpm. Also extremely reliable come rain or shine (or driving through 1 ft of flood water as I once experienced). Not as tricky in the wet as is often commented, but recommend you get used to the car before charging around roundabouts after a downpour or pulling out from sharp junctions too quickly. Just requires a bit more care than when dry.
Can get a bit noisy / tiring in the winter with the hood up when you're not in the mood for an involving drive, but definitely worthwhile when the odd sunny day comes around. The steering is also not quite as involving as it could be.
Things to note as an owner: - As others have commented, oil consumption can be high and should be checked at least weekly. Make sure you use the recommended synthetic stuff with the right rating - Tyres don't tend to last that long (the back ones on mine usually need replacing every 10-15k), and the Bridgestone SO2s designed specifically for the S2000 are the ones to go for. I've driven other S2000s fitted with different makes and it does make a difference.
The main thing - enjoy it! It still surprises me that this car never got the attention or praise it deserves. If you've ever driven a Morgan this is the modern version with twice the power and practicality.
Exceptional piece of Engineering. It handles like a dream. When you get it over 6000rpm its a different kind of beast! NOT FOR THE FAINTHEARTED. You really have to drive it like a thug! I also own a BMW 5Series Which are renowned for their reliability. Well the S2000 to me comes in the same bracket. If you want to buy one then STOP READING THIS and BUY ONE NOW!
Buy it. Simple as that.
Great car. Very reliable. Fast. Poor wind deflector when roof down makes long hair nasty (females beware, males beware of females with nasty hair). Great handler. Needs high quality oil every 300-350 miles. £50 to fill tank. 250-280 miles per tank.
2 stage engine: can do 112mph before 2nd part kicks in helping to conserve fuel if driver is disciplined but once you have experienced the 2nd stage after 6k rpm you just cant help yourself but to push the needle over the magic number just to feel the car rocket - its awesome.
Stiff ride so avoid pot-holes and VERY slow over speed bumps. Great drive, great gear shift, fast electric roof. Well worth the money and then some!! Not too many on road which make them even more special.
Wow! The S2000 remains a performance bargain despite having been around for several years. It can be driven around town as easily as any other car, but show it an open road and exploit the 9000 RPM rev limit and it flies. The handling is excellent, though care needs to be taken on wet roads. Build quality is excellent and the car comes with items such as leather seats and xenon headlights which would be an extra on more expensive cars such as the Porshe Boxster or BMW Z4.
Inside the car is comfortable though the steering wheel lacks adjustment and some may feel that the dash is a little dated. It is not a quiet car, but the noise from the 4 cylinder engine is much better to listen to than the radio! The ride, whilst firm as befits a sports car, is not uncomfortable. The roof is very quick to raise - a point you will appreciate if you come across an unexpected shower.
I paid £23,000 for my pre-registered S2000GT which is a considerable saving on the list price and much less than I would have had to pay for the equivalent Porsche or BMW which are the principal alternatives. I know know why it has appeared at the top of so many owner satisfaction surveys.

Amazing car, once driven, never forgotton, forget all the pretenders like BMW Z4 and Mercedes SLK, they will never have the passion of a Porsche
I love this car! Handling is great, its fun to drive and even reasonably practical!
