    My car

Go for it I say! If you are considering owning an S2, sign the form!. As an overall package it works wonderfully.

My first impressions were slightly muted, I simply expected it to be faster. Once any thoughts of mechanical mercy have been banished the performance is there. It reminds me in a way of a 600cc Sportsbike?? The handling also should be approached in a motorcyle-esque way in that dragging the brakes into a corner is a no-no, feed the gas on slowly but early, apex-then floor it! No dramatic slides have been encounted, as it's reputation may suggest. In the wet it's a case being aware the limit is (much) easier to find.

I tried the usual Z4 & Boxster test drive options. I prefered the Porsche to the other German but for the same money it was the Honda that ticked every box.

Fuel consumption is OK, I would reckon mid 20's which is acceptable I reckon. Mine doesn't burn oil but you are encouraged to check it often. Servicing it cost £159 at a franchised dealer. Rear tyres lasted 12k & are about £120 a corner.

Nothing has broken, fell off, or stopped working & feels as though that should remain so as the build quality is top notch.

Buy one & you won't be dissapointed. My only regret is not buying a GT, I just fancy the hard top option for the winter.

    My car

This my second! Awesome beastie, fab fun in the dry, even better in the wet :). Oh, and an average 300 to the tank - we don't hurtle all the time, the roads aren't designed for it. Some have mentioned gearbox issues - my first S2K (02 plate) was sweet as a nut - changing gear brought a bigger manic grin than just driving does; but the second (05 plate), from leaving the dealer brand new, very occasionally jumped out of 1st or 2nd and was decidely notchy changing up thru 1, 2 and 3. Despite several mentions at the service intervals, following a naughty dealer 'replacement by using molyslip or something comparable' moment, a big fuss to the dealer and it was finally replaced by Honda foc. The grin is back. So there are Friday gbxs out there - don't stand for them. Also an issue with the front wheel alignment on the 1st - it was so far out from the factory it ate the front tyres in 7K! Dealer says it's not on their checklist, so tuff! Current one just about to change fronts after 32K. I think Honda have made a rod for their own backs with this car - just how on earth do they better it? I'll let the exhaust note on full chat say the rest..

    My car

I use to own a 51-reg S2000 - it handled badly, the gearstick wobbled, the plastic rearscreen was useless, the engine had no pull until 6000rpm and then the engine blew after only 7000 miles.

My dealer said it was because there was no oil in it - this was untrue as I checked it the week before, and after it blew, I spoke to the rep at the motor show who told me Honda had increased the number of oil inlet valves on the engine - why do this if there was not a problem?

I was so dissatisfied with the car and the service that I refused to have it back. It seems that I am the only person in the whole world ever to have an engine blow or so Honda would have us believe.

    My car

Bought my 05 S2 last Nov from a local non dealer, fears of missing my Boxster were soon laid to rest once I was behind the wheel of this joy of a car. Running costs are peanuts compared to a Box & my local main dealership is second to none.

In Dec 06 I found out my car did not have fully synthetic oil from her last service, this was retified, unexpectedly, free of charge.

In May 07 a small hole appeared in the roof,a service Technician took details & three pictures. A day passed when i received a phone call informing me that Honda UK shall replace the roof & frame at no cost to me! Total costs £2500.

Overall the car is a classic front engine/rear-drive layout, long bonnet, super four pot sat well back in the chassis to create perfect 50/50 weight distribution. A great car for my 20k!
