I have owned my V6 Coupe for 23 months and from day one it has suffered with clutch problems and a stiff gearchange, which sometimes refused to select second gear.
This has spoilt what is basically a good car but one which suffers from quality problems. The V6 engine is superb, but this is of no benefit when the car is off the road for six weeks waiting for parts to arrive from Korea to fit the fourth clutch and third flywheel in 20K miles.
There has not been much sympathy from Hyundai customer services either - they do not want to accept liability for costs incurred as a result of what was apparently a design defect.
Be warned, you too could be seriously out of pocket.
I owned a coupe for two years. It's the best Hyundai I ever owned. Great performance and good handling. It's the best budget coupe for anyone who can't afford a Celica. The 2.0 engine is strong and willing. And it overtakes very well, and is reasonable to upgrade its performance. I give Hyundai two thumbs up. Great work.
I moved to Spain a year ago and treated myself to the 2.0-litre coupe. It's called the FX over here.
It's been absolutely superb. I've driven to and from southern Spain to the UK a few times and it's not missed a beat. I did consider buying a BMW at the time but they're as common here as Mondeos are in the UK. They don't look as nice either!!
The car cost me 21,000 euros (about £14,000). There are some differences in the specs etc. I have a three-year mechanical warranty. Sunroof, auto gearbox, cruise control, heated mirrors and leather are not options here. I do get as standard, TCS, climate control and 17-inch alloys as standard, which for my circumstances, seems a better package.
The service intervals differ also. Mine is every 7500 kilometers. It doesn't sound much but I don't mind - the servicing costs here are very low. I've had three and the dearest was 120 euros. No outrageous charges at main dealers here!! I guess that the heat etc here is the reason. Also, something you don't get in the UK, at each oil change, you get whatever is left over.
Overall, I am totally satisfied with this car and would recommend it to anyone. It is superb.
Had to give the car up as the wife was pregnant - but oh lord, what fun to drive and fast...
Love the styling and the interior was more then stuffed with goodies - well built too.
Loved it then and still miss it...
May have to get a second car and give the wife the lexus.
Order a brochure, find your nearest dealer or book a test drive
I once owned an 04 GT (the version with the stupidly heavy clutch - a built in gym for your left leg). I've driven both editions since and must say…
I bought my TT 2 years ago, second hand (99 model)with 40k on the clock. Since then it has done 40 more. Service costs have been £250 a time. Timing…
