This is a good car.
I have owned my Matrix for two years now and so far it has been a pleasure to own. The driving position is comfortable and the view around the vehicle is excellent, which makes parking easy.
On the road, it handles well and is willing if not the quickest it cruises comfortably at motorway speeds.
The fuel economy is also good I find it averages out to about 39mpg and with my average service bill being well under £200 a time I find this car to be very reasonable to own and maintain.
I bought it new from the Hyundai dealer, who I found very helpful and efficient, with the car arriving exactly when promised.
My family and I find the car very practical, I have three children aged 8, 6 and 4. They love the amount of room they have in the rear of the car. The boot, although not the largest, easily handles our luggage or trips to the supermarket, and with the rear seats down even handles my wife's trips to ikea with ease.
Overall the car has now covered more than 50,000 miles without any faults or niggles. It still feels like the day it was delivered with no squeeks or rattles. Trips to the dealer have been quick and painless, with their service very friendly and helpful.
I would strongly recomend the Matrix to anyone who is looking for a very good-value and quality small MPV.
Like John, I own a 1.8 CDX which I've had for 3 months. I'm really happy with the car, it does everything we want and does it well. I do agree with John about the fuel consumption which is VERY poor for a car of it's size and weight.
That aside, it's a smart little car and in CDX form, very well kitted out. The CD player is a bit fiddly, but what the heck.
Apparently there is now a 1.6 SE which has the remote locking that isn't fitted on the GSI. Having driven both engines, the 1800 is far smoother. Would I buy another one? DEFINITELY!!
I have the 1.8 CDXi auto.
I love everything about this car but the fuel consumption is outrageous - nowhere near what the book states.
It's been back to the dealer and they have checked it all OK. I cannot better 28mpg, even on a run.
Has anybody else had the same problem?
