This car is extremely reliable and very tough. My Trooper has yet to let me down in any way.
I find it hard to fault, and unlike the Land Rover Discovery, it only visits the garage at service time.
It has superb off-road ability whilst steering is a bit light on road, but this improves when loaded up. It's an excellent towcar, too.
At 10000 miles the engine blew up and after only 12 months I'm on my second rebuilt engine. The car currently has a serious oil leak, idles badly and leaves large clouds of smoke whenever I accelerate. The list of problems include a bad starter motor (has now been changed). Just had a bill for repairing the ABS sensors and brakes because they were full of mud (it's a 4x4, is it not). Oil is still leaking out of sump, have to top it up every 3 to 4 days. Paint coming off around wheel arches and all plastic parts. Has had a new radio fitted. Has anybody else had similar problems?
