    My car

I am the proud owner of a 2006 S-Type Diesel Sport Auto. which I bought to replace a Mercedes-Benz A180CDi. The Jag. is undoubtedly the best car I've ever driven/owned and although running costs are inevitably higher than the A-Class I consider it money well spent. For a modest £11,000 my Jag. has the excellent touchscreen SatNav and a (rare) electric sunroof. It is a total joy to drive and VERY unlike any diesel I've ever driven. I had the ECU re-mapped (£350) and would strongly recommend this to any S-Type Diesel owner looking to extract more 'poke' from the engine. Despite having sports suspension it has a very cosseting ride and treats our pot-holed roads with disdain! Some may consider the styling outdated, but I like the classy retro look which is very distinctive compared with the bland German opposition. I don't understand why the S-Type only rates 2 stars from What Car. For me this a 5 star purchase!

    My car

i've owned this car for 6 months now and all i can say is it's brilliant . my last car was a 4.0l range rover which i loved but the mpg were terrible (13mpg) i didn't think i'd find a car as comfortable . long drives are a doddle with no fatigue at all and returning 41.3mpg (keeping inside the speed limit)and returning 29mpg in town . the styling is mint with 25 spoke alloys and dressed in black it's a bit of an head turner . performance is quite good too for a diesel (upsets the boy racers). my mate who has a bmw 520d cant believe how smooth the auto box is at the side of his . the only downfall in my eyes is the shallow boot with there only been enough room for 2 sets of golf clubs and no trollys . i'll be keeping this car for a good while now i think .

    My car

I have owned this car for 18 months now having come from a BMW 330d & have had no reason to visit the dealer (other than routine servicing) since I purchased the car. I loved my prevous BM (but not the dealers)but was looking for something that offered both value for money & A little more comfort. The deal that I got from my dealer meant I got a 2.7 SE for the same price as 520d - Good value in my book!

So far the Jag has been supremely refined (more so than the BMW) & with a plush ride that soaks up the worst that our British roads can throw at it. Some of my journeys are upwards of 300 mls so ride comfort & refinement are important to me. Handling is good enough for me (but not as good as the 3 series). I'm new to an automatic but have been very pleased with how easy it was to get used to - although for fast downchanges (getting past slower traffic) I leave the shift in sport mode. Minor gripes are the iPod kit keeps having to be reset & fuel economy is a little dissapointing at 37 mpg (I got an average 40 mpg over 60k mls in the BMW). I also would like to have a little extra poke - but having said that for 99.9% of the time the 2.7d delivers enough power to keep me happy The interior may be a little dated but the seats are fantastic - 6 hours & no back ache! Overall a fantastic car.
