This is my first Jaguar after owning various other makes the last two being Mercedes E-Class diesels. I can only say that I this car betters the handling, economy and comfort of my previous cars. Well done Jaguar.
It's very comfortable and fast especially the sports model/gear. The interior is very good and neatly done, stereo is superb, the sports seat is expecially good as I have a bad back.
This car is comfortable and the sound is excellent - it sounds like a 3.2 petrol engine. The only time I hear the diesel noise is when l open the window and the car is not moving.
I have a mercedes benz but the jaguar performance is excellent. I love the hand brake as well (auto release). the only down side is the pedal. Somehow i think it needs improvement as to the positioning of the foot. I also wish the S-type comes in 2.3 & 2.5 engine. I love the leather and the interior.
After all the hype on this new engine I was prepared for a let down.
You know what expectations are like...and I also tend to go against the trend. But for this Jag, I cannot really fault it at all. It has power and poise and is superbly refined.
I suppose that is one of the downsides for those expecting to be thrown around - the car just doesn't do that. All you need to remind you is to watch the rear view mirror, and see the other cars disappearing into the distance.
Build quality is as good as any other and the slightly retro styling just adds to the charm of the S-type. I can understand some of the comments from reviewers who decry the car's competitiveness but once more this comes back to expectations.
The S-type is a real Jag and the 2.7 diesel engine does the marque proud.
THIS IS MY SECOND JAG, THE FIRST BEING 3.0 LITRE X-TYPE. IT WAS AN EXCELLENT CAR, BUT I RATE THIS S-TYPE AS BY FAR A BETTER CAR TO RIDE IN AND AS A MORE REFINED VEHICLE. THE BOOT IS NOT AS BIG AS YOU WOULD EXPECT, WITH A CD AUTO-CHANGER IN PLACE, PUTTING TWO SUITCASES SIDE BY SIDE IS A STRUGGLE HOWEVER, A JAG IS A JAG AND I CAN'T SEE ME BUYING ANY OTHER MAKE FROM NOW ON.

Why is there so much whining about the rear sets? It's small - it's called a "mini" (hint). It didn't get any smaller after you bought it, so deal…
