    My car

I have had this car for 18 months now and can only say after dreaming of owning a Jag for a lifetime, the dream is in reality a nightmare.

The car had a whining transmission problem from day one. I had the dealer after waiting one year change out the box, which resulted in making the problem worse. We are now on gearbox number three and they have also replaced a set of timing chains. To add to this, the passenger door jams shut frequently and there is an irritating rattle from behind the dashboard.

The car cost £24.5k new and after 18 months of problematic ownership, the suppling dealer adds insult by offering me £13k to take it of my hands. I will never buy another Jaguar despite the fact they are good to drive, look good and are relatively comfortable inside.

    My car

I've now owned this car for over 2 years and it still feels special to drive. Whilst there have been a few quality issues, no more than people I know with MB or BMW. For example, the quality of the paint is probably the best I've seen.

Pros - ride and handling are exceptional, 4wd has been more useful than I thought possible, performance is good, adequate space for 4, dealer service

Cons - economy (22-25), clutch action is difficult to get right (go for the auto), depreciation

They've improved the equipment levels across the range, but they still seem to think that items like self-dimming interior mirrors and folding rear seats should be extra.

Overall I would say ignore the Mondeo comparisons. It really is a very good car. However, choose your spec carefully.

    My car

I HAVE REALLY ENJOYED OWNING THIS CAR. IT IS VERY COMFORTABLE AND SPACIOUS WITH EXCELLENT FEATURES INCLUDED.

IF I HAD ANY COMPLAINT IT WOULD ONLY BE THE SLIGHT LACK OF POWER IN THE ENGINE

THE BUILD QUALITY IS GOOD AND I HAVE HAD NO COMPLAINTS IN THE TIME I HAVE OWNED THE CAR

    My car

I wanted one of these when they first came out and I have not been disappointed.

The drive is wonderful with good handling - the auto version seems to be well set up with only very slight kick-down lag - the Jaguar J-shift makes manual gear changes easy.

Fuel consumption is hardly best in class and the tank is very small - the servicing costs are high espescailly since it is based on a volume Ford product.

The dealer has been very good and sorted a couple of initial niggles very quickly.
