    My car

The car, on the whole, lives up to to expectations well.

I thought it represented very good value for money to buy although I have found service costs to be on the high side. I was considering a change shortly but having checked out the trade-in values, I think I will give it a miss.

The depreciation has been rather higher than I expected. Additionally, given a mix of driving conditions, I find 25mpg to 27mpg a bit on the low side.

The finish of the car is excellent and the reliability has been very good.

My only gripe is the clutch, which makes perfect smooth changes near impossible, particularly in low gears. I wish I had gone for the auto.

    My car

I drive the turbodiesel and the frugality is amazing, sometimes it seems like the fuel gauge is stuck!

The overtaking performance in third gear is superb, even quicker than my other car, an Alfa 145 1.8TS.

The car continues to attract admiring comments from work colleagues and it certainly looks good in black, even better since Jaguar stopped putting the chrome strips in the bumpers. I specified split/fold rear seats as an option and it was well worth it. The extra flexibility makes the shallowness of the boot irrelevant.

One minor quality issue has been the Jaguar motif wheel iserts, which began falling out by themselves after two months of ownership. Fortunately, I only lost one and after forking out a tenner for a replacement I glued them all securely in place. Owners take note!!

    My car

Delightful to drive, reasonably economical and only fault in 17000 miles has been the need to change the instrument pack - a known fault.

The dealer is heplful but it's very expensive to service, surprisingly so given the simplicity of the diesel. I'll be phoning around for prices when the 25,000-mile service is due. Overall this is a comfotrable, well equipped car.

    My car

It has fully lived up to my expectations. The dealer can't do enough for me.
