    My car

In agreement with other reviewers here, this car is a bargain. They're a wonderfully honest vehicle. Forget some silly remarks by road testers about interior quality; none of that matters at this price. And in any case the interiors are actually quite good & at least they don't fall apart - they are very practical and ideal for a vehicle of this kind. The engine and gearbox alone make this car so so much better than a slowcoach Discovery at £10k more! We have checked the fuel comsumption very accurately 'brim to brim' and pretty consistantly achieve 29mpg overall with 32mpg possible on a run. We have found that the cruise control actually uses MORE fuel and also surprisingly the OBC is pessimistic recording approx 2mpg less than it actually does. 420 - 460 miles on a tank. The dealers are quite enthusiastic and we have had no reliability problems whatsoever in our 18 months of ownership. Perhaps the ride on some backrounds gets alittle lively but it's really not a problem. Hidden talent?: most beautifully relaxed long distance tourer.. If you want to be alittle different from all the yummy-mummys and like abit of performance and value then try a Jeep GC.

Sports car preformance 17-18 mpg which is not so good but hearing that v8 growl more than makes up for it. Ride is firm but comfortable . I've only had the car a month but am very very impressed .

    My car

    Ok - bottom line...

This car is one of the best 4x4's you can buy - why?

    1) It's quick and the engine (Mercedes 320 CDI) is brilliant 2) Value for money is stunning 3) Design and build quality (exterior) is superb and looks the business 4) The interior is often mis represented. The cabin quality and design is great and for a 4x4 is hard wearing and good to drive in. You can have 5 people in the space in total comfort. 5) The value for money is unbelievable - for £30 you get a £45k plus car, cartainly the engine! 6) The main reasons that What Car give this car 3 stars is quite fickle: the lack of 7 seats (do you really need them / how often will you use them). The transmission small tunnel in the footwell of the centre rear seat (its very small and not a problem). Running costs high - well I get around 25 mpg from my car and nearly 30 mpg on the motorway (for a 4x4 of this size that is good). The interior is often critised for quality of plastics (in part this is valid but on the Overland you can bearly tell and on the other trims its a basic case of the quality is good just not BMW quality)

    My car

I bought this used vehicle instead of renewing a VW van because it was a much cheaper option, such is the price of vans these days! I am very pleased with the Jeep; it does it's job very well with no fuss and not too many silly frills. I specifically chose the base trim as it seems more durable than the leather-specced Ltd. The engine and gearbox are superb, must be second to none for refinement in a diesel. Economy is only average but there is so much power available it's about what you would expect. We seem to get about 27mpg overall with 30mpg achievable on a long run. In fact Jeep could easily have down-tuned the engine to achieve more economy even if it was at the expense of some power - it would have had plenty left in reserve! Only weak spots are driver's footwell's alittle cramped and the ride can be choppy on the back roads. All-in-all a bargain to buy used and a very capable & fast workhorse.
