    My car

I previously owned a Ford Maverick 2.7 TD five-door for towing my caravan, so I was looking for a replacement. And what a replacement.

I have owned the Sorento now for almost 12 months and I cannot fault it. It tows my van like a dream. I rarely if ever need to come out of fifth gear when cruising on the motorway, even on long inclines, which were a nightmare for the Maverick.

Fuel consumption when towing is excellent, probably in the region of 10mpg more than the Maverick. I certainly cannot fault the Sorento as a good value, reliable towcar. Buy it!

    My car

i did a review on this car when i first bought it in march 05 how little did i know what was coming ok i had and said in my last review that i had a couple of glitches but that was just the start of my encounter with kia uk and the kia dealer. After seventeen months of this car i just want to get rid of it myself and my family went on holiday to north wales on the way home i started to hear a noise coming from the engine so when i arrived home i took the sorento to the dealer the service guy opend the bonnet and said we had better book it in to see what the problem is but assured meit would be ok to drive as i left the garage and in the middle of crossing a main road i herd a clunk and bang from the engine all the warning lights on the dash came on i had now power steering but managed to get the car off the main road some guys who were passing at the time pushed me back into tha garage forcourt the service guy came out opend the bonnet again and we both saw that the crank puly had sheared off looks like a new engine he said smiling to himself o great i thought the cars going to be off the road for 2 or 3 weeks 6 weeks latter i had the car back filthy dirty dents in the bonnet chunks out of the bummper it was a complete mess i contacted kia uk but they did not want to know the dealer took the car in for a further week to repair he damage to my car

    My car

I have now owned a new Sorento XS for two weeks. Within a few hours of collecting the car I noted an oil leak coming from an oil-pressure relief valve on the cylinder head. This was confirmed by the RAC, who I was advised to call by the dealership.

The car was unceremoniously returned to the dealership on the back of a transporter. I was informed it would require a replacement cylinder head, which had to be ordered from Germany and would arrive with the dealer within four or five days. Up until this point I found the dealership helpful. Things have since gone downhill.

Of course, the part never arrived and still has not two weeks later. I have now been told it will be at least another week with no assurances it will arrive then. With several enquiries via the dealer and Kia UK, I have been given conflicting information from 'it's on its way' to 'Kia doesn't know where it is' to 'it is still in Germany'.

I enquired if this was a recognised problem and was told no, although I note the comments of a previous reviewer. For the few hours I had the car, I was quite pleased with it but now have major reservations regarding its reliability.

I have found Kia's ability to obtain urgent parts both ineffective and disorganised. At present I would find it difficult to recommend this product. I am aware this review will appear very much as a 'gripe' but it represents my experience to date and I would be interested to know if I am unique or if this is a common experience.

    My car

I have owned this car for two years and to be honest I would never have another one.

Unlike other readers, mine has been a nightmare to own. The quality leaves a lot to be desired, to date my car has been back to the garage on no less than 26 occasions with problems.

I have had two sets of alloy wheels due to premature corrosion, two complete dashboards due to constant rattles and creaks, new centre console due to comming adrift from its fixings, three B pillar trims, again from rattles and coming adrift, two new drivers seat surround trims again these keep coing adrift from the mounting points, I am currently awaiting the third, there has been numerious recalls for power steering pumps, ECUs oil pressure relief valves etc.

The ride is very harsh and the cabin rattles like a tin of marbles. Be very careful if you are considering one. Kia did not seem to want to know once they had sold me the car. I found their customer service department uncooperative and reluctant to get involved.

Needless to say, I cannot recommend this car and would definitely not buy a Kia again.
