I have a Kia Sorento, which is now 18 months old and has 40,000 miles on the clock.
I have only had one problem, which was when the power steering gave up the ghost. A small pipe had chaffed against a clip and had caused it to split. Kia got it repaired under warranty within a couple of days. They also supplied me with a hire car in the meatime.
I find driving on the motorway effortless and reach my destination refreshed and comfortable. I have also driven my vehicle over the Welsh hills. Not just an ordinary little track I might add but the same track that Land Rovers and Range Rovers use all the time. Didn't miss a beat - took everything in its stride.
The underside is well protected but could do with a little more protection on the differentials and gearbox areas. The skid plate did its job and protected the sump from the inevitable bashes. Well done Kia for producing a large, comfortable, well specified vehicle that does what it says on the can and at a price that is affodable.
Plenty of pulling power and comfortable seating all round, leg space excellent even in the back with front seat right back. Fuel consumption is good considering the size of vehicle.
The fascia is dated and some switches are awkwardly placed. I find it difficult to get used to the indicator arm being on the right hand side.
I have used the vehicle to tow a caravan up some difficult terrain in the Alps and it was easily up to the task.
I have owned mine for almost a year and at present expect to replace it with another one next year.
Sorento 2.5 CRDI XS Auto
Before this car we owned a Kia Sedona and really liked it purely for its value and looks, not for its ride or refinement, but recently we decided to change to an SUV, we looked at loads of cars the Rexton, Suzuki, Freelander, Outlander, Tucson, Sportage but never thought we could afford the Sorento as we really wanted the top SX model.
To our utter surprise our Kia dealer came up with an ex demo model that had done just 1200 miles, and gave us £4,000 over the list price for our old Sedona!
What can I say? This car is truly fantastic. If BMW or Mercedes had come out with the exact same car they would have added £15,000 to it and nobody would bat an eyelid.
The build quality is so much better than any other car I have driven. The ride and feel of the car feels quite Mercedes-ish, whilst the cabin provides every luxury... (apart from an outside temperature gauge!)
I do however wish Kia would replace that plastic wood for real wood. A company that sells the real wood replacements would surly do well.
We have owned this car for 3 months and are highly delighted with it!
We looked at numerous 4x4's (Disco, Freelander,Hyundai Tuscon, Rav4, Subaru Legacy, Nissan Xtrail, Mitsubishi L200, and Ford Ranger) but none matched the Kia Sorento.
We went to test drive the Kia expecting to not like it because of the badge but we loved it and bought the demo the next day!
We are getting 30mpg mainly on short trips and there is plenty of room for our 2 kids and 2 dogs!
