Although not a natural 4X4 driver, with these Philippine roads it seemed a sensible investment. I am very impressed with this "take it anywhere" car from Kia. My Sorento seems equally comfortable on both tracks and tarmac. I have hit some mind blowing potholes with steering and tracking remaining unaffected. It is roomy, comfortable, economical (for its type) and very reliable. The bodywork is modern and stylish. My auto box has a bit of a time lag when power is needed quickly for overtaking. The Tiptronic gearbox is very handy for towing and off road. The electronic gearbox selector and easily read instrumentation are a nice touch. 3 power sockets mean that laptops, mobile phones and x-boxes remain fully charged. Problems? External rear door handle mountings a bit weak. One sheared after trying to open a still locked door from the outside. Also it is possible to remove the spare wheel with the car locked and alarmed. (I found this out recently to my cost!) Overall? A car that will last me for years considering the generous warranty.
My '03' Sorento Auto has covered more than 65K and has only been to the dealer for the required servicings. In the early days I had a couple of minor issues with paint work (tailgate and front grille) but these were immediately sorted by the dealer under warranty and apart from a set of tyres has required no further work.
It is still a pleasure to drive over whatever terrain I throw at it and tows my horse box or 27' twin axle caravan with ease.
Others have critisised its economy, but mine invariably returns mid 30's to the gallon - in fact it has only dropped into the 20's when towing over hills.
I have already converted some of my farmer friends with their Discovery's as the Sorento is cheaper to buy and run, and gives a better resale value.
MINES 2006 SORENTO AND I AM VERY PLEASED WITH IT,I LOOKED AT THE XS FIRST BUT DID NOT LIKE THE PLASTIC WOOD. FOR ITS SIZE IT HANDLES VERY WELL THERES LITTLE BODY ROLL WHEN CORNERING THE SUSPENSION IS FIRM WHICH WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS CAN UPSET THE CD PLAYER. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 10 MONTHS AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS IT DOES 36 MPG AND FOR ITS WEIGHT GOES WELL. MY WIFE ENJOYS DRIVING TO BUT BEING ONLY 5FT 3 INCHES HAS TO GET CLOSE TO THE STEERING WHEEL ITS A PITY IT DOES NOT ADJUST FOR REACH. MINE HAS SIDE STEPS WHICH I THINK IS A MUST FOR SHORT PEOPLE GETTING IN. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A 4X4 THEN LOOK NO FURTHER THAN THE SORENTO ITS EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY AND AS I HAVE FOUND VERY RELIABLE .
i own a 2005 kia sorento and have been having a lot of clutch problems lately.Has anybody else had or know of the same problems. My car has only done 16000 miles
