    My car

This is the second new Defender that I have owned, the first one was a 90 XS Station Wagon. I drive 50 miles each way to work every day crossing Dartmoor, in all weathers, and at all times of the day and night.

The defender gives you confidance to drive a journey such as this, even in the winter at 3am. It will leave boy racers standing at the lights, but this does not help with fuel consumption.

I would say that I get approximatly 30 mpg on my work run this route consists of narrow lanes, A roads, and about6 miles of duel carrigeway, including city traffic.

During the summer of 2005 I took the 90 to France, and some of the routes that we drove I would think twice about walking up, but the Defender took it in its stride.

I would recommend the Defender as a no frills solid dependable vehicle.

    My car

The saying 'Less is more' was made for the Defender.. but that's no bad thing...it protrays the Defenders honesty and unpretentiousness off to a tee. Mind you the Defender makes a bit of a attempt to cosset its occupants in XS form.

If purchasing new from a Main Dealer ask What are your Hourly Servicing Rates? Don't forget to include the Vat...they like to quote you without including the Vat!...... 12 months ago 2004 I was quoted from a Bury Lancashire Dealership... £100.00p per hour inc VAT for a Defender...dont forget you still have to pay for servicing when your vehicle is still under manufacturers warranty...otherwise look for a good back street Garage to Service your Land Rover after the precious Warranty expires

    My car

    This car is fantastic!

It's the sort of car you own and you never buy anything else ever again. It's a car that you either love or hate. It's either perfect or rubbish for your lifestyle.

The car is very expensive for what you get. You get hardly any electrics, but I look at the positive side and see that nothing can go wrong with it.

The car is fine on the road, you feel very safe because of a high driving position. I can get about 25-30mpg on a run. It's slow on the motorway, and gets extremely noisy at about 70mph+.

The car is very practical inside. It's huge, with nine seats and a massive boot - as good as a van.

When you buy one of these, you know what you're buying - a Defender does what it says on the tin.

I would recommend anyone to buy it if they enjoy proper 4x4s: this car is simply superb off road, with its low gearing and differential lock.

Go to a Land Rover dealer but watch out, the extras add up - and make sure you knock a couple of grand off the RRP.

    My car

I own a 2.5TD 90. It has been a good runner. When anything goes wrong the parts are easly obtained.

Off road it is excellent. I have been through some things that other cars would struggle with.

I think that a 90 is great for any person who likes the outdoors and also likes a bit of fun off road.
