This car is fantastic!
It's the sort of car you own and you never buy anything else ever again. It's a car that you either love or hate. It's either perfect or rubbish for your lifestyle.
The car is very expensive for what you get. You get hardly any electrics, but I look at the positive side and see that nothing can go wrong with it.
The car is fine on the road, you feel very safe because of a high driving position. I can get about 25-30mpg on a run. It's slow on the motorway, and gets extremely noisy at about 70mph+.
The car is very practical inside. It's huge, with nine seats and a massive boot - as good as a van.
When you buy one of these, you know what you're buying - a Defender does what it says on the tin.
I would recommend anyone to buy it if they enjoy proper 4x4s: this car is simply superb off road, with its low gearing and differential lock.
Go to a Land Rover dealer but watch out, the extras add up - and make sure you knock a couple of grand off the RRP.
I own a 2.5TD 90. It has been a good runner. When anything goes wrong the parts are easly obtained.
Off road it is excellent. I have been through some things that other cars would struggle with.
I think that a 90 is great for any person who likes the outdoors and also likes a bit of fun off road.
Overall, I give this model the best rating because the point of owning this model is off-road driving - and it has the best performance off road. And it's a pleasure driving it.
It's the best car in the world!
You can get more safety features on your Defender - I have traction control, airbag and ABS on mine - you just have to be very nice to the dealer!
You don't buy a Defender to drive down motorways, you buy it because it has character. When you sit in the driver's seat you feel empowered. You sit above everyone else in their cars. The TD5 engine is so powerful - it turns you into a boy racer at the lights, revving the engine shakes the bonnet - enough to make any real boy racer think twice!
Snow and floods are no longer a consequence, instead they add to the fun you have when driving. The Defender was designed to be a work horse and it is just that. You tell it where to go and it does just that. Other equipment like CD players can be bought separately if you want, but me - I prefer to listen to the roar of the engine.
P.S - it's a real babe magnet!
