    My car

I've had the SDV6 XS for just over a week and cranked out a 100 miles per day since I've had it. I had a 2009 Disco 4 XS before that. Sadly I sold that and spent a year driving a "regular" car and missed my Disco the whole time.

The old Disco 4 was no slouch, but the new power plant is so much better. Getting out at busy junctions or nipping past a slow moving vehicle on a twisting country lane is no problem at all.

As before, motorway cruising is sublimely comfortable and utterly effortless. I drove from Lincoln to Holyhead and then from Dublin to Cork in my old XS and was sad when I had to get out. The new XS feels every bit as comfortable and just as wonderful to drive. I'm 6' tall and not a small man in other ways too, but the seats are superbly comfortable. Add to that the huge windows and high up driving position making visibility second to none. It also makes a huge difference when driving at night too. No more being dazzled.

I had a couple of minor niggles on the older car but nothing major and they were sorted out quickly and without fuss by the dealer. Touch wood nothing on he new one. However the old car took a lot of punishment, through Irish bogs, moors and mountains. I know everyone moans at running costs and I know they are not cheap but quite frankly you are getting 3 cars for the price of 1. Executive cruiser. Unstoppable 4x4. Superb family wagon and work horse. Landy got it absolutely right. Why drive a car when you can drive a Land Rover?

    My car

I took delivery of my new Disco 4 HSE at the beginning of December picking the car up from TH White in Wotton Bassett & have had great pre & post sales service from Matt D who always responds promptly if I email etc.

December has been really snowy & icy so it’s had a great test & also for people carrying & load lugging (my youngest just moved out) This car has it all e.g. a luxury exec car & can carry 7 people with proper seats in the boot & a huge boot for load carrying, plus the air suspension makes it easy for me (I’m disabled) to get in/out or loading etc.

Mostly it’s just so smooth & easy to drive & just wafts over all our crappy pot holed roads. I had a BMW X5 before with fat wheels & sports suspension but the steering was so heavy & it crashed over the bumps, unlike this king of the road ‘wafter’

You can tell I love this car with the only downside being economy (25-27) & road tax. I’d be a bit gutted if I had a Disco 3 as they have revamped the interior & exterior a little so it’s like a RR inside with huge boot & I did consider a RR Sport but why pay more when this is similar inside with bigger boot but maybe has less road presence & manners & is prettier I guess.

I’m wary of the so called LR reliability but so far it’s been faultless in all conditions so I’d recommend it.

    My car

Took delivery of the new car two months ago and am extremely pleased with it. The performance is excellent for such a big Tonka Toy! The cabin is superb and very well laid out, plenty of space and actually more comfortable than my 06 Range Rover which I changed for this car. Only downside is economy! Where they get an average MPG of 31 from, I do not know! The best I get is 24.8 and I haven't got a heavy right foot! Off road it is superb having used it for shooting and fishing quite a bit this last month!

Recommended without a doubt (so far!)
