Tremendous car. No delivery problems, no teething problems. LR dealer in Aberystwyth treated me well. Superb roadholding, very comfortable driving position, automatic gearbox works well, and diesel consumption is absolutely fine (in excess of 30 mph, even during running-in period). One feels extremely safe in this vehicle. There are cheaper 4X4s in this category, but the Freelander2 beats them all.
Having owned a new F2 for over a month now, I am very pleased with the handling, light steering, economy, and CO2 emissions (same as my old hatchback). Its an entirely different drive to the old F1.
I love the driving position, the quiet cabin and build quality.
Loads of torque and very quick between 40 and 70 mph.
I prefer the high load deck which has taken 6 sacks of sand, 2 of cement and patio slabs without complaint.
Only problems I've experienced have been the rear heated quaterlight window not connected to the wiring loom and for some inexplicable reason all the electric windows opened by themselves sometime during the night.
Having owned the previous model Freelander, the immediate thing that I noticed was a great improvement in the quality of finish, both of the interior and exterior of the vehicle. Taking the vehicle for a test drive further confirmed my opinion that this was a great improvement over the previous model. The steering although light gives good feedback. The vehicle is very comfortable and quiet to travel in. My vehicle was delivered on time and was very well presented. The thing that surprised me was the discount I received from my dealer, over £2000 which on a vehicle which had only been out three months at the time I placed my order seemed fantastic. So far 4 weeks into ownership I am very happy with the way the vehicle drives and its fuel economy. It is a far superior product than the old model Freelander and I would urge anyone in the market for a small 4x4 to have a test drive. Finally I have used the same dealer for 15 years and have to say I find them very good. However I have to admit I find their pricing for servicing vehicles rather high.
Bought this car in March it drives very well in comparison to my previous Honda CRV However lumber adjuster came off in my hand the first time i tried to use it,their was a problem with the bi-xenon lights and it started pulling right . To date it has been in the garage three times and is still waiting to go in for the steering fault and the lumber adjuster has came off again ,poor service and no courtisy car offered.I find the lay out and amount of switch gear very distracting it's over busy rear leg room is poor and the boot is tiny as they have put the full sized spare in the floor my poor dog struggles to get in due to the load height.I also cant get on with the start button and fob you have to insert in to the dash its akward if you are right handed and time consuming to get started and swich off .the auto lights seem to do their own thing switching on when it's bright light and not comming on at all when dark .Overall it's way over priced and i am worried about the build quality and reliability as well as dealer service.
