We have owned this car for over 6 months, and it is the best car my husband has driven...
HOWEVER - be warned. We have just paid £7k to have the a new engine after it blew up!! There is no oil warning light, only an oil PRESSURE light, and in the handbook its states that you have to check the oil every 250 miles, so if you are planning to do large mileage - you may spend more time under the bonnet than behind the wheel. Our friend has also had to have a new engine in his - we would have said it was just bad luck on our part, but for 2 people to have it happen, it is more than a coincedence!
Apart from that, it is a fantastic car! Handling is superb; the power you would expect from a zippy sports car is held in this 4x4. Great seating position - to be able to see well infront of you, and a complete feeling of safety and comfort - its like driving in your armchair! We would highly recommend the car, but please be warned of the oil issue first.
Expecting my first child, my Mercedes CLK was no longer a practical choice. I just couldn't stand the thought of driving an estate as a thirtysomething and so opted to look at the current 4 x 4's on offer.
I test drove many, including the new Mercedes M class, VW Touareg and BMW X5. It wasn't until I climbed into the RR Sport that my choice was made. All had plus and minuses, but this one seemed to deliver the lot.
King of the road driving position, luxurious finish, excellent road manners for such a beast and all the gadgets that a 33 year old child could ever wish for.
No reliability problems as yet and fuel consumption seems to be improving with time. Sat Nav is easy and straightforward to use as are the myriad of other innovative pieces of technology that I keep stumbling upon.
I love my new car and foresee many many more years of blissful motoring. I actually look forward to driving into work each morning!
I have owned my Range Rover Sport for six months and driven just over 11,000 miles.
It is comfortable on long journeys and fuel consumption on motorways is quite good for such a big car with a small engine. Town use consumption is not so good, but what would one expect?
Snow driving in Germany was a doddle and I felt very safe. Off-road capabilities are amazing and electronics make it even easier. It's a fantastic car and I'm a very happy driver.
I have owned a vast array of cars, including Mercedes and BMWs, and I can say that this is up there with the best.
I have had mine chipped, which does make a big difference, but fuel economy does suffer! Even though the Range Rover Sport has been out for a while, it still manages to turn heads.
In my opinion, it's the best in its class - an SUV should be chunky & rugged looking, with a plush interior, and it's all that.
