This is my third Lexus now, but my first of the new shape. I had a Mercedes C Class before and the Lexus is miles better.
The dealership in Reading was fantastic and customer service is second to none. The car is fantastic to drive and really well put together.
Equipment levels are great for a base spec and everyone who travels in it comments on what a nice car it is and how comfortable the ride is.
As most people say, the sixth gear is more for motorway journeys, but otherwise I'm really pleased with the car and would definately recommend it to anyone.
I've had my IS250 SE L for a couple of weeks now and I'm very impressed.
It has gadgets galore inside, and I love the reverse camera, but does take some getting used to. The Mark Levinson stereo system is the best standard system I've heard in a car - it's fantastic.
It's quite strange getting used to the keyless entry system, but it's very good. On a practical note, the handling of the car is fine and the steering is very sharp, although maybe a touch too sharp.
The only criticism is the clunky gearbox: in first, second, and sometimes third gear it's very noisy and notchy. Apart from that, all is well - maybe I'll get an auto next time.
I have owned Mercedes cars for the last 25 years. My last car was a Mercedes S320CDI.I kept it for 6 years and I would not have enough space here to list the problems I experienced throughout that time. The last problem being a faulty fuel pump after just 40,000 miles. This was the last straw so I decided to change to a Lexus. I fancied a smaller car so I purchased a Lexus IS250SE-L with most of the extras, ie navigation, auto trasmission etc I have driven it for 3000 miles now and I am very impressed so far. Everything is so much better than my previous Mercedes S320. For example the windscreen wipers work much better also the navigation, brakes, sound system, etc. The only criticism with the Lexus is that it is a harder ride than the Mercedes, also the fuel consumption is`nt that great, but then it is a different class of car and I must say it`s much more fun to drive. To conclude, I have definately been converted. I don`t think I will ever purchase another Mercedes in my lifetime.
In the last six years I have owned 1 Mercedes, 3 B M Ws, 1 Audi and a Saab convertible, none of them, in my opinion, can compare with the Lexus for build quality, equipment levels, comfort or dealer service. I also expect depreciation to be far less than with any of the other cars. The car is now 10 months old so I will be placing an order for my next 250 in the next couple of weeks, this time for the SEL with multimedia, [I am trying to catch up on my wife who has recently bought her 4th Lexus RX in 4 years]
