I have had a Mazda 2 capella since February 2005 and there are a things I don't like.
In the 10 months that I have had it, the oil level has gone down to half way once before it was serviced and after it was serviced in november 2005. I also have to take it to Mazda because the lock on the back seat has broken.
The suspension is too firm and lastly I don't like the fact that it has a Ford Fiesta engine in it with ford stamped all over it. I thought I was buying Mazda not part Ford.
I like the car how it drives and it holds the road well. The engine I have got is a 1.4 16v.
This is a well put-together car, if a little basic and plain looking. I have owned the car for two years with 100% reliability.
The ride is a little harsh and the seats are not that comfortable, although the high driving position is good and offers great visibility. The boot space was what sold the car - it's great for unusual loads.
At first glance, the cabin looks good, although the glove compartment door gives the feeling of low quality.
All in all the Mazda 2 has been a great car. Would I buy another? The answer to that would have to be no, as the car is a little boring. I'm off to buy a Golf.
Drive by wire accelerator is unpredictable when setting off - needs plenty of revs - OK if you're used a petrol car but coming from a diesel it's a different story.
1.4 Pulls well if revved.
The faults have included a flat battery on the first day with the car. The central lock did not work, the handbrake needed adjusting, there was a rattle in the bodywork, and the door was out of alignment. It needed module replacement. It would not pull away correctly.
I have constantly visited the garage and asked to part ex as I lost confidence in the car. They would oblige only at a low trade-in price. I have now written to the dealer principal to try for a better result.
I still would buy another though.
