    My car

I'm the proud owner of a brand new Mazda 3 for more than a month now with more than 2000km on the clock and all I can say is that I absolutely love it! For my age (I'm 24) and needs it is more than enough. It's comfortable, has a great stereo system and runs smoothly and quietly. Reliability wise I only encountered the common (as it seems) stalling problem when launching from a complete stop (e.g. on traffic lights), a problem which seems to have gone away(hopefully) after the car's first oil change at 1000km. The 1.4 engine is slow. With 4 persons on board, slow city driving is firm and the car struggles on uphill driving. For up to 2 people though I find the pace adequate so it really doesn't bother me that much. The fuel economy is a bit disappointing but the car is still new so it may need some time to be able to perform better. For the time-being I am very pleased with the car and would recommend it to all the people interested in buying a new car. I will update this review in a few months to aid people interested in the car because i know how useful this information is for people considering to buy a new car.

I hope my review helps someone, Chris

    My car

I have read with interest the reader reviews of the Mazda3,especially the ones from the people who have had bad experiences. I've had mine for 18 months from new and its been fantastic! Poor old Kelly R sounds totally cheesed off- but when you buy a two year old car and it turns out a shed perhaps it's not the car but the previous owner who is to blame. The only criticisms I have is that the 1.6 engine lacks a bit of torque and when manoevering on full lock its quite easy to stall the engine, and secondly the seats are a bit hard - although my wife says they are fine but she has a more upholstered bottom than me!Happy motoring

    My car

Nice car, "SHAME ABOUT THE TURBO!" My car is just over 2years old, being the second owner which I have had for 18months. In that time I have had 2 turbo's replaced. Fuel consumption is good, It does seem to have a problem with turbo lag even with the new turbo. The turning circle is not great, or when trying to park, the view is restricted - I would definitely recommend parking sensors. I have asked Mazda about the Turbo problem and if after the warranty/guarantee runs out, the turbo fails again will it be replaced at their expense as it is a known poblem after reading other reviews about the 1.6d turbo. They have made out they are not really aware of any fault and said that like anything, things can go wrong(but its not like its a door handle falling off). so NO it would not be covered! - even though my car is on its second replacement. There was also another Mazda 3 having a turbo replaced the same time as mine. And the first time the turbo went they said they have only had one other turbo going on this model. I dont think its just the case of being unfortunate but more the case of Mazda trying to be hush hush. I am quite disapointed as for some reason even after giving any negatives I am still drawn to my Mazda 3. But I will have no choice now and to sell it before the Warranty runs out, and just hope that the next poor sod does not have the same problem! :-(

    My car

The car itself is quite spacious on the inside, although adults will feel a bit cramped in the back seats and the rear doors are not partcularly large.

The 1.6 diesel engine is quite lively when working correctly. Some turbo models have a fault with the turbo, which Mazda seem unable to cure.

My own engine fault has been ongoing for getting on for two years.
