Picked the car up from new in march. have covered 8000+ miles. very pleased with it.Engine pulls well. I particulary like the amount of useful kit that comes as standard.
I have had my TS2 since March, and have clocked up nearly 14,000 very happy motoring miles already. I have averaged 37 mpg (and that's from the petrol engine) with the climate control on for 90% of those miles.
Turning the 'climate' off makes a big difference to the mpg, I got up to 44 on one motorway journey. Just turning the A/C off doesn't have the same effect, as the cooling unit is still chewing power, you have to go for fresh air I'm affraid if you want to improve the overall mpg.
Also the acceleration is greatly improved when the climate is off.
Having previously owned VWs, Audis & BMWs I wasn't sure how it would measure up, but am impressed with the standard kit on the TS2, and only paid just over £16k. The seats are extremely comfortable on long journeys, and three 6 foot+ blokes can sit in the back.
Like others, my headlights are permanently on. I had just presumed they had decided to go the 'Volvo' route.
Great car, especially in black. Don't get talked into paying extra for metalic paint, black is free.
I have asked for comments on how to improve my average mileage but forgot to ask also if anyone can suggest how to improve the lights - especially the dipped beams.
I note Graham Bird's comments on fuel consumption with interest.
I have an 06 Mazda 6 TS2 diesel which has averaged 36mpg for its entire 19,000 miles. I questioned this poor fuel consumption with the dealer and Mazda, and was also told that this would improve after 5000 miles.
I am still challenging Mazda on this matter, given that I know many people, and have my own experience, with comparable 2.0 diesels that easily average over 45mpg.
I have asked Mazda to confirm that their customers should expect fuel consumption to vary from 30-40% from published figures.
I am a company car driver and had one of these for…
Had this car for 90k from new. A 56 plate. In over…
