This is my second car that i use on those barmy summer days "not" had many of those lately anyway the MX5 is great!!!
The handling is spot on and a joy with the rear wheel drive and 50/50 balance incorporated in the design.
I have owned a Mazda before a 323F and that was perfect,hence my decision to buy this model.
You cannot go wrong with Japaneese,the mechanicals are superb!!!
A lot of "smug" people i know bought Audi tt,s Porsches and BMWs and have had "nothing" but problems, indeed there as common as muck where i live.
I need to know that i can jump in the MX5 and it will start first time and never breakdown and it dosent.
The "old fashioned" view of "German" engineering dosent cut it with me if this were true why are Japaneese engines the driest in the world?
"Surely" a finely engineered engine dosent burn oil at the rate i experienced with an Audi. As for technology well its Japan every time!!
I would recommend the MX5 you wont lose any sleep over any problems like an MG OR TT.
Pure joy to look at, and to drive. Lovely elegant colour scheme - black hood, silver body. Fabulous design, amazing road holding, excellent turning circle, it's my seventh car and the best by far. I'll only change this for a newer MX5 model eventually. Economy, very good (I use BP'S Ultimate). After a tough day at the office, it lifts my spirits to approach my wonderful MX5 and drive home smiling.
I bought my 'x' reg 1.6 Isolo red MX5 second hand (cost £9k) and have driven it for 5 years - Mileage is: 67k to date and it has a hard top and a soft top. During this time, I have replaced a window winding mechanism, and a brake caliper only. (plus normal wear & tear: wipers/brake pads/oil/tyres etc.) It is a brilliant car, I love it and have never regretted buying it. Part-X have been offered £4k; I need a 4-seater Cabrio now, but cannot find anything else to compare to the cost,running expenses,reliablility and fun of my MX5. Why don't they make a 4-seater?????
I have owned this car for almost three years and it still makes me smile when I drive it. The road handling is superb - as light as a feather (great for parking) and yet with such precision (you point and the car will go). It has one of the best gear boxes you'll ever have the pleasure of using - I find my partners Passat gear change very 'sloppy' in comparison. If you have the money, try and get the hardtop. As well as protect the car during the winter months, it totally transforms the look of it. The interior is very cushioned and has a great quality about it - no metal bits in sight. With bucket shaped sport seats, they hold you in & give you a real comfy ride. I also love the attention you get in this car - never fails to turn heads. It's different, in a class of its own & its reliability another major bonus. I have nothing negative to say about the mx-5's except that I do feel that the newer shape has lost its 'fun' element in its handling and its looks - a pitty. Don't fix it if it ain't broke...

I love this car! Handling is great, its fun to drive and even reasonably practical!
