Purchased new with whopping discount so it was such great value for money. Owned now for over three years and is everything I could hope for from a small sports car. You do need to push the 1.8 engine hard to get it to respond but it doesn't disappoint. It is economical, comfortable and such a pleasure to drive. The hood can be lowered and raised in seconds and with such a powerful heater, even in the winter top down motoring can be enjoyed. I have so much fun in this car whether driving like a pensioner(which sadly I am) or giving it a bit of wellie on the motorway(always within the speed limit of course) and feeling like I am in a racing car.
I can't fault the MX5,it looks great, goes well, is cheap to buy and run, is reliable and gets lots of comments, and is so user friendly to own. Everyone should try one of these before they die.
I bought my second MX5 new just over a year ago, I do love the car. Before I took it for it's first service it developed an annoying clicking noise from some where in the car, anyway I mentioned this when the car was booked in. When I picked the car up later that day they said that they had put some padding in the panels and the noise should not be there any more. Wrong, the noise was still there, I booked the car back in and again they told me when I picked it up that it should be OK, but things like this are difficult to find (I appreciate this having been a fitter for 27 years) however the noise was still there. Again I booked the car back in, before the end of the day they contacted me to say that they thought they had found the fault, they said it seemed to be a spot weld that had come adrift(strange)the car has been with them now for nearly four weeks they say that they have never come across something like this before. They have now told me that Mazda UK want to inspect the car (they are not going to do this until Nov 3rd) this means that they have had my car for five weeks, the car has only done 5k. They have given me a courtesy car but as I told them if I wanted a Fiesta, I would have bought one at half the cost of the Mazda. I do feel very disappointed. I can only wait to see what happens.
This is my second review for this car and I have to say it is still brilliant. The only problem I have is the good old British summer - the poor roof has been up what feels like for ever.
I'm not writing about how good the car drives because other people have done that for me.
The best thing about the car is the way people look at it as if it is a Ferrari or another extremely exotic car. I'm not kidding!
What can I say? People who are considering this car and are looking at the MX-5s competitors should stop and just buy the MX-5. It's a cracker!
I collected my ex-demo 1.8 Option Pack on 1st May and the last eight weeks have been brilliant! It’s just a shame that the British summer has yet to start.
The car looks great and mental to drive. The driving position is comfortable but anyone taller than me (6ft) would have trouble fitting in.
This is the kind of car which you make excuses to take out - you don’t have anywhere to go, you just want to drive it!
Boot space is adequate and fuel consumption is okay, though not sure I’m quite reaching the figures Mazda state – though this may be due to my heavy foot!
Before I bought the car, I read many reviews saying that this car puts a huge smile on your face and it’s true!
Buy one, I promise you won’t be disappointed!
Order a brochure, find your nearest dealer or book a test drive
Amazing car, once driven, never forgotton, forget all the pretenders like BMW Z4 and Mercedes SLK, they will never have the passion of a Porsche
I love this car! Handling is great, its fun to drive and even reasonably practical!
