This car was a huge disapointment. A tested it for two weeks, and aive got to say there wasn't must to be happy about. i drove the one with 228bhp, but after previously testing porsches and cars from bmw m division this car was comparitivly slow. Yes it feels quite fast, but if you care to look at the speedometer whilst flat out, your acceleration is awful, i mean its pretty decent from 0-60, but when your trying to have fun on the motorway, waiting for the old banger in front to move out of the outside lane, with a bmw m3 behind, when that banger finally moved out the way and i went flat out, in the right gear, the m3 was actually fast enough to undertake me, in a relitivly small space. Yes the m3 is almost twice as much as the rx8, but all rx8 drivers drive as if they rule the road too. In conclusion the acceleration after going past 60 is awful, but it is quite cheap so i surpose its not bad, but it should be going faster than this for a car with worse fuel econemy than a porche 911 carrera S
I had one for a year. At first thought it was a cracker but then you find that you start making excuses for it. The older ones are now showing signs of engine problems and corrosion. They are worth peanuts second hand and it will only get worse. Get rid while you can is my advice. Just look at the discounts that are available on new and pre reg models - circa £7000 - do the maths. When you do change and go back to a car the gets reasonable economy its a real delight. Trouble is takes ages to get rid of the phobia that lingers on from fear of flooding the engine. I dont believe this car has a future. I wonder how long Mazda will persevere with it.
I have owned my RX8 from new, bougt in Sept 04. As another reviewer said about driving it, the most fun you can have with your clothes on. The one big thing I would say about it is that it is stacked with all sorts of goodies which are extras in many other similar cars - headlamp washers, 6CD changer, radio controls on the steering wheel etc.
Having owned mine for a while I can confirm that oil consumption does get better. I check it every 6 fills instead of every 3. Petrol-wise I get around 20-22 to the gallon - a big achievement getting around 230 miles from a tank of petrol!
My only problem now is, what to buy next? Trying the Audi TT roadster and Honda S2000, appreciate any thoughts!
I've own this RX8 PZ for four weeks now and done only 300 miles in it when I bought it.
I payed £20,200 for it - it had 1075 miles on the clock at five months old, which was a bargain. I have never driven a car quiet like it before and I just love it.
Order a brochure, find your nearest dealer or book a test drive
I once owned an 04 GT (the version with the stupidly heavy clutch - a built in gym for your left leg). I've driven both editions since and must say…
I bought my TT 2 years ago, second hand (99 model)with 40k on the clock. Since then it has done 40 more. Service costs have been £250 a time. Timing…
