    My car

This car's great. I have a 2000 W-reg A170 CDI. OK, so you might be thinking, what does a 23-year old woman know about cars? Out of all the cars I've driven (1995 Rover 216 Coupe, 1997 Vauxhall Vectra TDI, 1996 MGF, 2002 Audi A4) I have to say that my little car has everything.

It's reliable, economical (I do lots of miles a week), comfortable, has a great view (with being quite higher than most other cars), etc. I'm a young driver with only a couple of years driving experience and the insurance price is reasonable. It's nippy and gets you into all those little parking spaces that most other cars can't get into.

The only thing I can say about it is when I have had something done to it (I've had this car a year now and the swinging arm on the suspension went - that's it, nothing else!) it has cost more than your average repair, but really for the fact that I'm driving around in a Mercedes, that's not a problem! Oh, and when it's windy you can feel a bit of movement, but it's only due to the car's height.

I can fit all of my friends into it and have helped friends move house, so there's plenty of room in it for such a little car! I'd say the car's ideal for a young person who drives quite a lot. It's trendy and economical at the same time! Forget Saxos, Corsas, 206s etc... the Baby Benz is the car to have!

    My car

I have owned this car for nearly two years having bought it from a Mercedes dealer. The car is of excellent build quality but this is not transferred to the ride quality which is quite harsh, you really feel the bumps and uneven road surfaces.Servicing costs are extortionate if you want to keep a Mercedes service history. The car is almost 3 years old and will soon need an MOT I wonder how much that will cost? The boot is also rather small and it is not a practical car if you have a young family as I do.I dont want another one and I am considering getting a Citroen Xsara Picasso. Another thing that annoys me is that the garage we got the car from will only give us HALF of what we paid for it as a trade in for a new A150 which is truly appalling depreciation considering that we paid £7995 for it and the car has only done 28000 miles.I dont think that the A class deserves the reputation that the other cars in the Mercedes range enjoy. Think very carefully before buying one of these. Buyer beware.

    My car

I purchased a 2001-registered 190 Elegance for my sister nine months ago as she had just passed her test.

The car is roomy and looks good with the AMG alloy wheels on it and drives really well - when it is in the mood to work.

In ten months, it has had a new auto gearbox, new radiator, new engine control unit, new battery, and a new airbag SRS system. Finally, the ignition system has gone on strike so it is now sitting outside our aunt's house waiting for Mobilolife to bring it back to the dealership.

Fortunantly the warranty (which we took out at the Mercedes dealer, thank God) has covered all these items so it is only inconveniance that she has suffered and the dealer (Chichester) has been absolutely brilliant about sorting out the issues with the car, so she has never been left without a car.

I have now part-exchanged it for a new shape A160 CDi for her, as I can't be bothered with seeing her number coming up on my mobile phone, knowing that it's more than likely going to be about the car playing up. She is picking it up at the weekend, which is a load off my mind.

If looking to purchase an old-shape A-class, I would seriously recommend taking out the Mercedes warranty (about £800) as if I had paid for the recon work on the car it would have been over £6000 pounds so far.
