I bought this on the back of having a petrol B-Class for 2 weeks as a hire car in Germany covering many miles of autobahn, twisty mountain roads, and urban driving. The B-Class gave a very good account of itself in terms of it spacious interior, handling, and superior comfort. I found the petrol engine to be somewhat underpowered however, hence my purchase of the more powerful diesel. Yes it's more expensive than many of its rivals (although try configuring a B-Class and a C-Max like for like engine and spec-wise and the C-Max comes out the more expensive) but residuals are much better, meaning leasing deals are surprisingly affordable, well mine was anyway. This car just feels so well put together, has a well designed dash and bags of space for 6 footers in front and back (it is smaller on the outside than a Focus, but at east as big on the inside as an E-Class. It also has some nice technological touches that, in my view, Mercedes don't advertise enough such as the additional safety measures that come into play when having to break sharply etc... I'm getting nearly 50mpg out of the car so far, and I don't drive particularly slowly. So all in all I think this car is a winner. It doesn't appear cheap but in the end you get what you pay for.
