USED Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate (00 - 08)

My car

This car is a great car to own. I have driven this car 200,000 miles in three years and have no major faults or complaints.

On start-up, the engine is really noisy, but once you get going it is not an issue. Seats are very comfy and I love the electrical adjustment.

The auto gearbox is superb and the car is a great towcar for my boat - you don't even notice it's there.

It's a little expensive on initial purchase but still worth around £8000. Servicing is quite dear, although it is a Mercedes. I think the Mercedes C-Class Estate is too underated.

My car

I've had this car from 5800 miles to its present mileage of 113,500. This has been my first Merc and I have been more than pleased with everything except the service charges (with various add-ons like screen wash etc and disposal of old fluids).

My driving has been a mix of motorway and urban. The car has been fully loaded most of the time and everything from comfort to handling has been great.

My average driving distance is over 2.5hrs either way and this has been the most comfortable car I've owned.

At present I'm looking to replace it and may consider a Volvo V70

My car

I have only owned this vehicle for a month, so I have limited experience of it. However, the V6 engine shines already. It's smooth and very relaxing drive - until you put your foot down and then it takes off like a scalded cat! I cannot get consumption under 35mpg - normall, it's about 38mpg on a run. The seats are OK - they're not perfect, but there are no real complaints at all. It's the ultimate Q-car.

Servicing costs are very high. I was charged £100 for just the wheel alignment after a new steering joint was fitted!
