I have just resumed Mercedes ownership having just purchased this 6 year old C Class 180.
This is my second Merc having previously owned a 190 for 8 (trouble free) years. Having owned a Rover 75, a BMW and (oops) a Peugeot 307 in between it doesn't take long to realise what a quality car a Mercedes really is.
For a 1.8 it is surprisingly nippy and think twice before spending the extra money on the diesel as this 4 pot is pleasingly economical and I think the most user friendly auto box I have experienced.
Built to last is an understatement.
I found the local dealership excellent with nothing too much trouble, friendly staff, nice showroom and a very helpful salesman and even a phone call a week after purchasing the car to ensure everything was ok.....How's that for customer service. Well done SG Mercedes Cardiff.
Looking forward to going back in a few years for another one.
I love to drive this sedate and smooth car. It is a second car to a nearly-new Nissan, but the Mercedes is still my first choice if I can get there before my wife.
The auto box is very good with little sensation of gear change, and for some odd reason, driving the Mercedes seems to make my driving better - probably because I do not feel so much in a rush to get where I am going.
Fuel consumption is on a par with most diesels I have driven and I was amazed to find my insurance slightly cheaper than my old peugeot 406HDI. If there is a choice between an older C250 TD and a newer ordinary car I would choose the Mercedes any day.
After singing to my husband for many a year 'Oh baby won't you buy me a mercedez-benz' I finally got my hands on the C250E TD. What a car, what a choice, the style, drive and sex appeal far outweighs the cost of running.
A good all round car, practical and ecconomical, few problems. Service is best by specialists, not main dealers but just people who know Mercedes.
