I have owned my 1999 Clk 320 Elagance for a year now and have found it to be enjoyable and reliable.
I have a 2000 CLK which is four years old. The exhaust manifold has just cracked and fallen apart. The replacement and costs to fit were more than £700.
My point is that this should simply not happen on any car, never mind a Merc.
Upon inspection, the faulty manifold seems very tinny and not the cast iron, and enamelled one that was fitted in my 1996 E320. It seems to me that Mercedes has seriously compromised quality.
Sadly for me, it is unlikely that I would by a new one again as it seems Mercedes can give no assurances with respect to reliability and quality.
I wish I had kept my old E320. It was a jolly good car with well in excess of 100,000 trouble-free miles!
The car is excellent except for the garage's seeming inability to solve the 'check engine' light that keeps coming on every few miles.
It has been in the garage many times over the few weeks since I bought it. They have changed all the sensors involved with the engine.
I have asked for my money back and will buy a different car if I can.
Drives itself, quiet and smooth, spacious inside, very comfortable.
It's the best looking car on the road - feel good in it without worrying about driving such an expensive car - don't feel conspicous but you know you're in an eye-catching car - discrete and elegant.

Amazing car, once driven, never forgotton, forget all the pretenders like BMW Z4 and Mercedes SLK, they will never have the passion of a Porsche
I love this car! Handling is great, its fun to drive and even reasonably practical!
