    My car

Having read a few reviews, they seems to endorse the view that one should buy cars in the mid to end life of their production runs as most of the problems have been ironed out by then! No quality or electrical issues at all so far.

I don't see how people think the 3-litre diesel isn't as quiet as it should be-for me this car is absolutely fantastic! Great build quality, smooth ride, very quiet and quick enough for all who don't feel ashamed driving an estate car! The E-class is heading for a face-lift in July 2006, so there are great discounts going on the out-going version.

I would strongly recommend this car if you need 7 seats but can't face MPV world! There isn't quite as much space as a full-size MPV, but I bet you won't see many owners smiling as much as you....

    My car

This is my second E class estate, I shall not buy another..

The dealerships are at best unhelpful and at times rude.

The service departments are expensive and unreliable.

I have had problems with air con which they have been unable to sort out and the radio has not worked properly since the car was 2 years old, they are unable to fix it.

The bodywork is about to go in for repair to rust, the second time in 5 years , and the alloy wheels are corroded with only 53,000 miles on the clock. Mercedes is not interested in the problem.

    After sales service is atrocious.

    My car

I have just disposed of my 04 530d touring after a year of faults and poor quality and dreadful run flat tyres.

My new 4 month old 280 CDI estate is in a different league to the 5 series BMW . The economy and performance are similar but the quietness, refinement, quality and driveabilty put it into a much higher class. The Mercedes cost about the same as the BMW a year ago but it is so much a better car and costs less to insure.

Mercedes Benz Direct at Waltham Cross did an excellent part exchange for the BMW and had a good choice of estates to choose from.

    My car

I have now had this car for three months and it is a delight to drive.

The seven-speed auto box is silky smooth and the new 3-litre V6 engine is so much sweeter than the E270 which I previously owned.

My last car lasted 18 months before it was finally bought back by Mercedes. Hopefully Mercedes has finally sorted out the software glitches.
