I own the E55 Amg version of the E Class W210. As the what car review quite rightly says rust can be a problem on the front wings and bootlock so check these areas carefully as it can be expensive to put right. Driveability is second to none. A 0-60 time of sub 5 seconds sees pretty much anything away at the lights and performance wise, it has a 'linear' power delivery right up to the limited top speed of 155. Its extremely comfortable, roomy, packed with safety features and if serviced correctly with be almost bulletproof. A £70,000 car for around £5,000. Yes its an absolute bargain and like all Mercedes Benz it dates extremely well too. Make no mistake, the E55 is an expensive car to run. It eats tyres for breakfast, has 16 spark plugs and four catalytic converters but on the flip side to the coin it will put a smile on your face every time you drive it. I have a full service history with mine and average service costs can easily pass £1000 per time, having said that mine has a full MB history and an independent could save loads. Would i buy another. No, i'd have the diesel which is best all round, but i guess from a fun factor i'm still glad i bought the E55.
I own this car, and in my opinion its absolutely fantastic. If you can afford the running costs (which are pretty high) then it shouldn't be a problem. It has never broken down, the quality is excellent, its got a gorgeous V6 and above all its a Mercedes. The customer satisfaction from the dealers is also very good... This car has a heart .... it makes you feel really happy... :) I love it!
THis is my third merc and my last. I loan this car to my daughter to travel to college and home late at night. The absurdly complicated "security" system put my daughter at risk when the key failed. I was told by an authorised dealer that the electonic key can "break" if it is knocked or even put in the same pocket as a mobile phone (magnetic field). At nearly £150 to replace and no manual alternative this is NOT a security system - it is a threat.
I have always liked big cars with big engines, and this Mercedes satifies all my needs.
I own this 530i and i love it, the style never die…
This could be a great car but is let down by…
