Love it. Every now and then I have cause to hate it It runs impeccably. Huge. In a good way. 2 young children and all their stuff fill it to the gunnels, but it's still comfy, and does all that is asked of it We have an Edition 10 version. Tyres are 265/45/20. They are lasting about 12000 miles and cost about £210 each. Nasty. Kwik fit will take 300, so shop around. Road tax is 445 per year. And it's not amazing on diesel. 30s on the motorway if you do 70. It drops quickly if you go too much faster, and good lord, stick a roof box on it and watch it drop to 23/24mpg.
That said I'd done the research and knew what it would cost and figured it was worth a punt, and it was.
We're out of warranty now so if anything breaks I'll cry, but I wasn't paying £1000/ year to extend it.
So. Dont expect it to be way cheap to run, but it's not so bad. Insurance is 300/ year. It looks wicked from every angle, and pulls like a train. We bought ours used, 18 months old for £30k, somebody had paid £49k for it new. That made me smile. Go on buy one, you'll love it.
Having worked my through through an R-Class, an SLK, and a new E-Class in the last 3 years, I took delivery on a shiney new diamond white ML350 Grand Edition 5 weeks and 2000 miles ago.
There's something about the Grand Edition in white that makes it look like an updated model, rather than a 6 year old design, which was part of the attraction, bearing in mind the new ML due out next April. I'd also been keen to wait for a RR Evoque I had on order, but got impatient!
I was lucky enough to spend half a day driving and exploring a new Evoque last weekend, and though it's a unquestionably a good car, when I drove home in the ML, I was pleased to realise I'd bought the right car, as it felf a class above the Evoque. At over £50K it should do of course, but take into account the £5K discount and cheap rate PCP and it would cost little more than a decent spec Evoque at launch.
The ML350 pulls away from a junction with much more gusto than either my previous E220, or the 190bhp Evoque, despite its 2.3 tonnes, and the V6+7 speed auto is well proven and smooth (if not economical enough for today's climate). There is a bit more road and wind noise than was evident from the Evoque, but the ML has a far more mature feel.
The latest Command with full post code and SD reader/HDD etc. is fine by me, the sound quality great, the graphics a lot more 'grown up' than the Evoque, and the voice control works well for me.
The likely depreciation is my only worry!
My first 4x4 and what super car. Not my 1st choice in truth but taken on a surprisingly good value lease deal and it has been a dream car to drive and run. With a light foot and not too much urban driving I have managed an average of 30mpg in 6 months and 7,000 miles. The car has been faultless - quiet, refined, comfortable and relaxing. I would recommend wholeheartedly.
We (me and my husband) LOVE IT!!!! We owed a BMW 3 series before and wanted a 4x4. We test drove the X5, Volvo, Q7 and Range Rover. Looks wise, our favourite was the Range Rover (which came fully loaded with kit), except when we drove it, it felt we were driving a bucket....very sluggish (unless you go for the supercharged) The ML was the last car we drove and we knew straight away it was the car for us. We opted for teh 320 CDi Sport, which looks gorgeous in black with running boards, blacked out windows and chorme grills, and pedals. We put lots of kit on it, to make it even more wonderful. Driving it is so easy, although you are driving a much bigger car, it is easier to handle than other large cars. My husband is much taller than me, so the electric memory seats are great. There are only a couple of criticisms we have 1) the rear parking sensors are not easily seen, you have to move your head about as you look through the rear view mirror, and 2)The American style gear lever on the steering wheel is not to everyone's taste... It's the first Mercedez we have owned and we think its the best car we've had so far. Plus the service we received on purchased and subsequently at our dealership has been amazing...top marks.
