    My car

The new SLK is perfect. We bought it in June and have been addicted. 7,000 miles trouble-free in four months. I was resisting a review before doing some varied distance.

For motorway, countryside, traffic, night drives, heavy fog and rain, the SLK is faultless. Even the tyre monitor gave accurate warning of a puncture. Not surprising given the distance. Reliability is excellent.

First impression, obvious stunning looks. As owners, we still get shocked at how good the reflection is in large shop windows. We had to include the SLK in cars to test drive. The acceleration is amazing but controlled and smooth. Also mpg in the high 40s is possible. More comfort than a 5 star hotel suite, you want to stay in it after parking. 7 disc CD and phone integrate to both dash and steering displays perfectly and sound as good as hi-fi separates. You can quickly get the electrically adjustable steering and seats comfortable and tweaking the settings for the key as you drive can be useful.

We overuse the roof and window mechanisms, but the seal is always perfect. I was particularly interested in this after seeing a Toyota MR2 with wet carpets. Perfectly dry on the SLK at all times. The car feels totally safe. I like the door and boot clunk. Seems built well everywhere. The hardtop gives confidence that the contents are safe too. The only problem is obvious. It's too good to park up just anywhere with total confidence ! No damage yet though. Don't hesitate. Brilliant car.

    My car

Completely different from the old SLK with real performance.

    My car

What a car! It has more than enough performance and is versatile, although I would advise against having the roof off in strong sunshine because you can easily burn. Then you will get reaction from other road users shouting 'Get your roof off'.

My previous car was an E39 BMW 530 Sport and I do miss the straight-six noise but the Mercedes growl is addictive. Heads are turned wherever I go as it is a stunning-looking car.

So far I've had no problems to test the dealers. It's not as common a sight as the numerous Boxsters in my area. Great vehicle.

    My car

My car was purchased in dec 04, recovered twice during that month had nothing but faults through Jan and Feb and air-con now packed up. Dealer refusing to replace car. Not happy.
