    My car

I have always wanted one of these cars, and mine came with the hardtop which is like owning 2 cars. Purchased the car from a small garage. However, after owning mine 6 months, (purchased in Aug 08) I have had the following problems: Water pump failed 2nd day of owning the vehicle (luckily I had AA cover as I had to be towed from Manchester back to Leeds) This was covered by the warranty from the garage, however, their service has been shocking and I would never buy from a small garage again!! head gasket failed costing £650 to repair (that is including a discount) the third brake light and luggage compartment light have stopped working (being classed as a fire hazard as the wires have broken) and now I have been informed that my coolant pipes underneath the car are corroded and if they leak will cause the head gasket to fail again. This car has cost me over £1k in the 6 months I have had it and it still requires the last 2 items repairing. Despite all my problems above, I feel that the car is still ace to drive however, I am still in two minds to move on or try and enjoy some of all the money put into the car.

    My car

This car is great fun to drive but unfortunately is the most unreliable I've ever owned. I'd done quite a lot of research about the car before I decided to buy one and, although I was aware of the warnings, I went ahead and bought it. However, I did take out an extended 3 year warantee on the car and am so glad I did, as I've really needed it! As part of the warantee I have to have the car serviced every 6 months and I've still had to take the car to be repaired between times. I've owned the car for 20 months now and am selling it already. 3 weeks after leaving the show room, the drivers window motor failed and needed replacing. Not long afterwards, the clock and heaters stopped working, and the brake light refuses to go out (despite having been taken to the garage more than 4 times to fix this). On one occassion the breaks jammed altogether. The roof constantly leaks and the rear perspex window has cracked. The battery and alternator have failed, the cam belt and water pump have needed replacing and at present, there is a constant loud ticking noise which has developed, coming from the engine which refuses to stop despite thorough checks and engine flushes. It has certainly been an experience and, although the car is great fun to drive, it is incredibly high maintenance. Think long and hard before you buy!

    My car

I owned my MG TF for 18 months until I had an accident and it was written off (much to my dismay!). It was a fabulous car and i LOVED it. I used it to commute 100 miles a day for work and it cost me about £50 a week in petrol, the same as my 1.2 corsa I had before. The seats were a little uncomfortable for commuting in and it was abit noisy on the motorway but it looked amazing and everyone commented on how nice it was. It had only done 20,000 miles when it got written off but i had had no problems with it whatsoever. I would recommend buying an MG because they are beautiful cars but beware the fact that they will get written off easily if you do have an accident because it is almost impossible to get parts for them now.

    My car

I love this car! I bought it new 4 years ago, it's an 80th Anniversary model in Goodwood Green with the 1.8 VVC 160 BHP engine, looks stunning in the sunlight, goes like stink, grips the road like glue - except in the wet where without traction control you can have some REAL FUN.

Now done 21000 miles with only a few minor issues.

The car came with odd-sized rear tyres (195 on the offisde, 205 on the nearside!), the dealer swapped these for the correct issue (205) without a question.

Driver's window has a mind of it's own - goes down automatically in the rain when windscreen wipers are on and the right hand indicator is on??????!!!!! Standard Stereo is awful. Leather seats ok, have driven to the South of France on a few occasions with no trouble.

Cheap as chips to run great fun to drive with powerfull 1.8 VVC engine and beefier than normal brakes.

Now going for it's 4th year service - am having the suspension checked out as it had a real pasting in Ireland last year and handling seems to have deteriorated a little.

Would never swap it for a souless Jap or German import.

This car is NOT FOR SALE!!!!
