USED Mitsubishi Colt Hatchback (04 - 13)

My car

I purchased an AMT (automated Manual Transmission) version in May this year from Mitsubishi Motors locally with only 280 miles on the clock (it had been a motobility demo car). The fit and finish is impressive as is the flexibility of the load space. The AMT is easy and relaxing to operate, with the bonus that unlike a conventional automatic, there is no fuel consumption penalty. In fact it's marginally better than the manual version. I can't afford a Mercedes but at least I now own 75% of the new Mercedes A Class diesel engine, which was developed specially for the (now defunct) Smart For4 and the Mitsubishi Colt. Google 'MTZ Worldwide 1/2005 Volume 66' and read all about it! One major criticism, which I share with other reviewers, is the thick A pillars which make every intersection and roundabout an 'adventure'!

My car

This car was bought for my wife on 1st April 2008, it’s now covered 3000 miles, no problems so far. It’s returning about 50 mpg, which includes some town and some country driving. Hopefully this will get even better as the engine loosens up. Official figures suggest 58 mpg combined. The performance from this 3 cylinder 1.5 diesel engine is really punchy (official figures 0-60 in 9.9 sec)

The car is like Dr Who's tardis inside, it has a fairly high roof and there’s good leg room in the front and back although the boot is very small, but the back seat is on a sliding system which enables it to be easily slid forward which will more than double the size of the boot, also they fold down.

This is the CZ3 model so has good level of equipment including leather seats which are very comfortable. This is an enjoyable little car to drive and if you can make do with a 3-door model, I think its a lot more pleasing to look at than the 5 door

My car

I've owned this little beauty for nearly 6 months now, and am very pleased with it. It feels easy to drive, the short length makes it easy to park and it's very economical. I get 50mpg+ on most journeys. There is a good range of movement/adjustment in the seats which are really comfortable. Motorway journeys are a breeze - it just takes a bit longer to overtake than some. The only real niggle is the large dashboard sometimes reflects in the windscreen. Also the high cost of Mitsubishi parts & servicing were an unpleasant surprise, but you do get what you pay for. An excellent small car.

My car

I bought my Colt Blue 1.1 in March 2008 after my 1.6 Focus became to expensive to run.

The Colt is a great little car with generous leg room unmatched by most bigger cars. I'm 6' 2" and have plenty of room. The sliding rear seat also provides plenty of leg room for rear passengers or extra boot space when required. The Colt is very comfortable allowing long journeys to be undertaken with ease.

Fuel Economy: What can I say? At 40mph in 5th gear you will easily get 50mpg, When driving carefully I have achieved 59mpg on urban A roads. The small engine requires a bit more fuel for motorway driving so expect around 47mpg or 48mpg at 70mph - 80mph on the motorway. If can drop down to 60mph, 50mpg on the motorway is possible.

In short: this is a fantastic car and Mitsubishi's best kept secret! If you want a roomy, economical and comfy car then the Colt is the car for you.
