    My car

Bought a 1998 model 4 years ago. A very nice car. I love the engine and the auto gearbox. It has only been used for journeys of less than 4 miles over speed humps in south London. I have always driven this car aggressively based on the assumption that the Japanese engineering could never let me down. The Engine did start to rattle a little for the first 15 minutes of being on about 6 months ago. However, I took it on the German Autobahns last month and that seemed to fix it (still got 140mph on the clock – and an accurate 132mph from my tom tom). The car did get its first fault last week when I accelerated hard at about 70 to overtake something. The automatic gearbox lost drive to the wheels, and unfortunately this is not cost affective to repair. This is the only common fault that Mitsubishi are aware of on that model. I think a manual would last forever. It is going to be a greatly missed car. This is a top spec with all the toys and even after I have poured several cups of coffee over the centre console switched like the electric seats still work perfectly (I just had to pour clean water over it all to get rid of the stickiness). Japanese parts are expensive (smashes the wing mirror). My car insurance was also a little higher than similar European cars.

    My car

I have owned four eighth generation Galants and one seventh generation, so this is going to be biased!

It's a great car, never goes wrong, is economical, has reasonable insurance and tax.

I have also owned BMWs and Mercs and much prefer the Galant as a value for money, quality all-rounder.

The cars are quiet, ride well and are extremely well finished inside and out. The only negative is that depreciation is high out of the blocks - so don't buy a new one.

In summary, if you are not a badge snob, give it a try - they are superb!

    My car

I owned this car for two and half years and, apart from usual servicing, I never ever had to spend money on it.

Plus, this car beats the Honda Accord hands down - and any other its German rivals.

I had everything in this car - leather seats, aircon, cruise control ,climate control, cd player etc).

I love every moment of owning this car. Put 17-inch wheels on and, bang, you got a cruiser.
