I can't praise the little Micra highly enough. I have had my 1.0 litre Micra E for little over one year, I have found her to be very economical and easy to drive. The model is very user friendly, easy controls and to date I have had no problems with my car. She is one of the cheapest to insure, tax, service and mot. Any potential buyer should know that whilst the CD player is not the greatest, you can still have it loud enough to sing along to your favourite tunes, you know who you are Joanna!!!!
I recently bought a Micra 1.0 (2003). It is pleasant to drive, economical, and so on.
In the last few weeks, I have had major `headaches` with the battery going flat after the all lights start flashing and not stopping. The engine light is still on after a major (P3) service - even though I explained the problem before the service, and they said it was solved.
I am taking the car in again tomorrow, hoping they will be able to fix it.
03 SE Auto, its great, it keeps up easily in traffic, I use it in town and on dual carriageways and wonder what the point of a more powerful car is. I never have to floor the throttle and it does 45mpg easily. Admittedly I don't feel the need to overtake very often, but when I do, there's no problem.
I've been in a ford focus, and from a front seat perspective the Micra seems larger if anything. The back seats adjust to increase the boot space or passenger space, all very convenient. It's comfortable and the auto change is smooth enough.
Servicing isn't particularly cheap at the local Nissan dealer, but they are polite and prompt and I can't complain. They run me home, pick me up, or offer me a courtesy car and send a quality questionaire after a few days.
I'd prefer it if the tyres were a bog standard size, not that it uses much tread, but I expect things like tyres on a car like this to be cheap as chips and they are not. I was quoted over 300 quid to replace the radio/cd head unit and that seems a tad silly, but the problem went away. I bought a new battery for less than 50 quid so that was fine, though with keyless entry I do worry about the car's reliance on elec-trickery. If the handbook is in the car, the battery flat on either the car or the key fob, how the hell are you meant to get into it. Thats why I changed all the batteries early.
Solid little car that does it's job.
I was amazed at the new Micra. Cheap, cheap, cheap. Bad quality, bad design, cheap parts, shoddy work, poor build. I was amazed at how poor it was. The old Micra was a Churchill Tank designed as a car. The new Micra is a cheap French imitation with a Nissan sticker on it. There are too many faults on this to number. I am very angry about this, and feel that I have been cheated. This is NOT a Japanese Nissan car, but a cheap French car with a Nissan sticker on the front. And reading the reviews of endless problems, I am starting to believe that the only Japanese thing about the car is the word Nissan. I've no idea what the build is like for engine etc. but reading the reviews here makes me shudder. My friend is driving a 17 year Micra, and there is nothing wrong with it. Mine is only 1 year old and it already has problems. M y old Micra was in perfect condition, I could not find one fault after 13 years (except the transmition, which always goes on old automatics). I bought this imagining that I'd keep it for 10 years, but after reading the horror stories here about drive trains and other screw ups, I think I'm just going to sell it and buy a VW. I think the people at Nissan had better watch out. They can't keep putting stuff out like this and stay in business. People talk. If you like poor quality, poor design, and shoddy workmanship, this is the car for you.
