    My car

I own a Nissan Micra 06 1.2se. The car is easy to drive and has good build quaility with some good cabin refinements. The Micra is let down by its reliability as with only 12000 miles on the clock an oxygen sensor devoloped a fault, resulting in poor performance and the engine management light staying on. The Nissan main dealer diagnosed the fault straight away, but owners beware! The main dealer did not hold any spare parts, which required another appointment of 3 days wait before taking it back to be fitted. Another hour and a half wait and I was told that the wrong part had been sent but in the right box. Can you believe it! I cannot understand why parts are not held at the Main Dealers so that these sort of problems can be fixed immediately. I am pleased with the overall performance of the car but would expect much better aftercare service from the Main Dealer.

    My car

It is my wife's car bought as ex demo 3 months old and I go out in it occasionally for a spin . Its quite fun with a vervy little engine that does 44mpg around town.

Its cost my wife nothing other than a new battery after three years, (apparently when only used on short journeys batteries have a hard time - ie it would not hold its charge.) £56 for new one. Its only done 8500 miles. Service costs at local garage are £150 a time, cheaper than Nissan garage.

It is practical, well specced, and has cheeky looks. Has two flaws the boot liner is very cheap and rattles and the clips that attach the boot cover to the back seats could be less fiddley. Other than that can't see what others complain about and my wife still loves it.

    My car

No problems with this car for the first 3 years when still in warranty but when it was 4 years old the problems started. It broke down and had to be recovered 4 times as 2 sensors had to be replaced one after the other then the timing chain went at a total cost of £1,300 that was with a staff discount from the dealer as I have a relative who works there. The dealer's said the timing chain which cost £900 was a common fault on these cars. I then had a friend with the same car develop the same fault. I have mainly had Renaults in the past and even though the Renault's seem to have a bad press on this site I had very few problems with any of them. I would never buy Nissan again but maybe I have just been unlucky this time.

    My car

I own a 53-plate one which has covered 18,000 miles. In the past 2 months it has developed an unsafe and very annoying habit of stalling when idling. This can happen as often as 5 times on a short 5-minute journey! So much for Nissan reliability - and the car is just out of its warranty period.

When it's on the open road it drives well, and is quite nippy for a 1.0 litre. Also it's very spacious and has a good driving position.

Sadly the quality of the trim is very poor - lots of rattles, and the door handle surround is coming loose. The parcel shelf also refuses to sit back in place when you shut the boot. Seems all very cheap to me.

Hard to recommend after the engine troubles I am having now...
