A few years ago i had a new 1.6 petrol and had nothing but problems, ECU problem, washer bottle split, brakes failed on Beachy Head in Sussex,so after only 4 months sold it....Now years later i still like the car and have bought a 1.5 Diesel N.Tech, ex demo car...Very pleased so far, the consumption is around 58-65, although i have had 70 on a run of 120 miles.Like so many others i also think that the tyre situation is appauling, with the only quality tyre being Continental OR mid range Falcon, the other point is not being able to move the steering wheel in or out, i think that the biggest down side is the vehicle width, very narrow and when i change gear my arm bangs into the passenger's arm..all the N.Tech goodies work well,a am not happy with the ride quality as my last vehicle had 18" wheels and i expected the ride to be hard but not on a 16"....and WHY oh WHY, a "V" rating???, 149MPH,even the Honda Jazz has the same tyre but a down graded "H" Rating...Will they listen NO. I bought this car new three months ago and have covered 3,000 miles. There's much to like about it: It has a great feeling of space, seating and legroom for passengers is very good and the driver’s seat very comfortable and supportive with plenty of adjustment. Unfortunately lack of steering wheel reach adjustment means arms are fully outstretched to achieve a comfortable leg position. Interior storage is well thought out and the integral chilled storage compartment very useful during hot weather. The Nissan Connect system works really well. Handling is good, steering precise and the turning circle particularly good. However, on anything less than perfect road surfaces the ride on the 55-profile 16” tyres is a little harsh and road noise is intrusive, particularly on motorways. The diesel engine pulls well and is fairly quiet when cruising but rattles under acceleration. Fuel consumption is 60+ mpg on empty West-Country roads. A 900 mile trip taking in A- and B-roads, 600 miles of motorway and 50 miles of London stop-start traffic returned 56mpg overall, which seems pretty good to me. Also, the Nissan deal included two years’ free servicing whilst road tax is just £35 p/a so overall this car is kind to the wallet. In many ways it is an excellent car – if only Nissan had taken more trouble with soundproofing and steering adjustment.
