This is a seven-month follow-up report. Previously the car broke down on the motorway with 47 miles on the clock.
After one month it developed an oil leak. The oil filter had not been tightened with enough torque. A week later another oil leak developed. This time it was the sump, this also had not been tightened sufficiently.
The fuel consumption remains poor - at least 8mpg down on what the figures would have suggested.
The quality control at Nissan seems to have gone out of the window!
I have had the car for 18 months, and have driven 24,000miles, I have taken it to Germany twice about 2,200miles each trip (including a 600-mile dash in one day) and a 2,700mile trip around Spain. It has never let me down.
Ride & handling first rate, brakes very reassuring, comfort first class, the sat nav is a fantastic, not infallible but very very good, and the other plus point it's not a Mondeo or a Vectra.
It's a bit early to give a full appraisal as I have only just purchased this motor.
I bought it because I wanted better fuel economy. The salesman informed me that I should average 50-55mpg. I am, however, dubious that this is in fact the case. I shall keep you informed when I have more information.
I have had this car for two months now and I am very pleased with it so far. I have found that at motorway speeds, there is some slight wind noise from the back, but apart from that I have had no other problems.
The leather seat trim I have found superb and I am loving it.
The fact is, if you want a reliable safe and practical car with a little fun then the primera is for you.
