I own a Spanish XT 110 Automatic 1.6. It's a good car to drive and it's economical, but it had usual 206 niggles: the fuel gauge refuses to register more than 3/4 full despite going back to the garage. The instrument cluster failed (the speedo packed it in), but luckily for me it's still under warranty. Now the radio pleases itself as to whether it will switch on or not.
This is my first Peugeot and my overall impression is very good. It's quite smooth and refined for a Diesel, and very quick when you put your foot down in second or third gear. Handling is excellent, as I would expect from a French car, although it does get a little unsettled sometimes on the bad roads I use in Portsmouth.
Economy so far is 52mpg from a mix of urban and brisk motorway driving.
Comfort is quite good, but if I'm honest it's not up to the standard of the 12-year-old Saab 900 it replaced. Seats are firm and supportive but they just don't feel 'right'. Maybe I just need to adjust it better, but it's worth mentioning.
Boot space is adequate, but more cavernous when the rear seats are folded down flat, which does create an almost completely flat loading area. The lip at the end of the boot is not too high, so large loads go in and out easily. Don't be fooled though, this is not an 'estate' car, it's a super mini with a larger than usual boot.
My overall impression is that this is a safe, good looking and practical family car that looks a bit different from the usual crowd.
I had this car from new - it's an 03 plate. At 48,000 miles, it's averaging 47mpg.
There's a minor whine from the alternator, which meant it needed a replacement under warranty in the first year, and a mystery electronics fault needed a visit to garage, again under warranty. The cloth luggage cover is coming apart, but it's been worked hard. Also, the sun visor needed replacing this year.
My local dealer is excellent.
I am aiming to keep this for two more years and will probably trade in for a 207 SW.
Bought the car with 9k miles. My ninth and most disappointing Peugeot. Very poor paint finish - give it a stern look and it dents to. Poorly spaced gears and economy nothing special even driven modestly. Very expensive parts £210 for a sender unit to keep the basic trip computer working. Wheel hubs stick out to far. Door seal flutes over 60mph and brakes squeal when stopping - garage cant solve these problems !!!!.
A relatively comfortable drive - overall I might be looking to another make next time.
