I've bought my 207 late August and I'm still quite impressed by the road handling and cabin noise. The dasboard quality is above average whilst the cd controls neatly placed behind the wheel are very comfortable. Electrical side mirrors are comfortable but foldable ones are even better(extra option) Maltese roads are not smooth and when driving at low speeds certain potholes are felt quite vividly however on longer smoother journeys the ride is excellent. Fuel economy is decent but to overtake you need to push pedal and gear quite hard. I was tempted by the Clio but the 207 offered more. Among the superminis the 207 is certainly one with a well deserved gold medal.
I have just purchased and taken delivery of this car (my model is a 1.4 hdi s model with air con) and I absolutely love it! Its fantastic on fuel economy, i have managed 67.7 mpg on a combination of different speed roads (60, 40, 30), the engine is amazingly quiet and it is a dream to drive. Only drawback I have found is the corners of the windscreen - the metal is quite chunky and can restrict viewing however this is not really that much of a drawback.
I would definitely recommend buying this car - I looked at both this car and the new clio when I was looking and fell in love with the 207 straight after driving it - the difference in pleasure for driving is astounding and it is far better quality for less cash!
I have just test driven a 1.4S for 282 miles...a very interesting car.
Good bits:
Brakes superb, steering and clutch are nice and light. Interior fit and finish is very pleasing. 1.4 petrol engine is remarkable...overall managed 49.5 MPG...that's a mixture of driving on the M1, M40, M25 plus a couple of city centres and apart from acceleration in 5th at 70mph (I forgot it's only a 1.4!) there are NO issues driving on the motorway. Quieter at 80 mph than it is at 50 (almost)! Very easy to drive and good standard kit.
Bad bits:
Seats back sides are just too narrow for a 6 foot, 13 stone bloke..but (another good bit) it is very easy to slot some lumbar padding behind the seat back if the standard seat is not to your liking. Biggest issue is the ride which I found very disappointing, very jiggly...even on newly laid roads I felt like a peg in a washing machine...maybe the price you pay for driving a small car?
Would I buy one? No...but if I got got presented with one as a hire car I could certainly live with it. Well worth a test drive.
I am having great pleasue in owning and driving this vehicle, it is very exciting after searching for many months for a new vehicle then this 207 was launched and i just jumpped at the opportunity, a real pleasure handling, driving.
